He came to you slouched & shrunken. His body language said it all. His voice mumbled as he knew the utter disappointment and undue stress he was about to put on you. Hey, I’ll at least give him the slightest amount of credit for finally gathering up the courage to tell you.

See, he’d been let go at his job at the beginning of the week. Now jobless and unable to help keep up the lifestyle you both were accustomed to. The thing is that he could see it coming for awhile but you know how his pride/insecurity kept him from sharing the necessary things one should bring to a relationship. Not his fault, a trait found in many men.

Like any job, he had been verbal talked to, formally written up and by the time Monday came I just couldn’t answer to my company when his productivity was far below company standards. I tried working with him by putting money into retraining him. Moved him to a couple other area of task and he had trouble meeting consistent expectations.

So I called him into the office and unfortunately broke the news to him. It’s never fun to let someone go and negatively impact a family but I also have to maintain certain standards. I’m sure you understand that.

When he stammered and groveled for his job retention, I’ll be honest….I’d did selfishly ask him “aren’t you the one with the hot wife that everyone at the office talked about after the company picnic?”

He of course ignored it because he never could read interactions or a room correctly.

I assumed I got my answer when he just lowered his head before I excused him.

You’ve always, unfortunately carried the relationship in some ways and now it looks like you have the opportunity to do the same. Eventually he had to answer for not going into work and after a dragged out, contentious fight he agrees to being emasculated and let you call to seeing if anything can be done. He knows how I possible feel and yet he still agrees.

I get it, he is in many aspects a great and caring partner. He really cares about you and you adore him for that. Now, how will we fix this??
