[A4A] Lost Heroes

1990

The World is safe. Has been for a long time, and would continue to be. Powerful criminals were rampant, but they were manageable. Because with them came a legion of Powerful Heroes. From a variety of ways, Superheroes formed with powers of Varying level. Wars are prevented, Villains are slowed, and people are saved by these Heroes. Heroes who would one day go on to be called legends such as the First Hero, Captain Hero, a man who seemed to age slower while being more durable and strong than any human, or the Blur who was said to move so fast he could outrun a Jet at full speed. The original generation formed in the late 90s, and rather than letting the government leash them OR being illegal vigilantes, they each started their own companies run solely by them. No shareholders to prioritize profits or PR teams telling you who to save, just a place to train, deploy, and help protect heroes to make sure casualties and collateral damage stayed to a minimum. But this old generation had a Master. The most powerful hero who ever lived: Madame Power.

She could fly, she could move faster than your eyes could see, she could've pushed a Moon around like a toy, Eye lasers, shrinking and growing, Freeze breath, Psychic abilities, Telekinesis, invincibility, easily the strongest hero who ever lived. But even besides her power, an icon. A tall, more built and bigger woman with black hair that shattered the Norm of "thin and dainty" being the perfect girl. Motivating everyone regardless who they were to be better, she was everything you would want in a hero. Selfless, tireless, powerful, always working to make the world better. And she did for a long time... Until she didn't.

2000

The world got harder. Superheroes got stronger and more organized, but so did the villains. Aliens, demons, Super criminals, the world went to hell. And at the forefront of it all acting as a shield the best she could, Madame Power held the line. Until a seemingly random day on August 4th, 2005. Just under a month and a half before her 29th birthday. A bomb fell from the skies launched by the Late-villain Doctor Grognor. A fairly standard one seemingly, but when she went up to catch it, it detonated in her hands. Too high to see anything but the explosion for the naked eye, but she soon fell to the ground. The crater was the size of a house. Government officials came, placed her in a black vehicle and brought her away claiming they would help personally. The report came hours later. The bomb let out a chemical she breathed in that shut down her organs and polluted her blood. They claim she was dead before she even hit the ground. The world Lost its greatest hero. The example they looked to. And it didn't know what to do.

Grognor was hunted and killed by her former teammates. Never before had a villain been murdered by a hero, yet everyone understood. He never confessed. For the short battle until they got him, he swore he didn't mean to kill her. That he didn't put the chemicals in the bomb. They didn't listen. Nobody cared. The Government started Contracting heroes for work, establishing a relationship to try to create a web that could fill the void she left. Times got harder. Heroes forced themselves to get stronger. The world got bleaker without her example to live by. Anti-Heroes were born, people who killed criminals rather than capturing them. Heroes were rumored to be much more deviant in their off-duty. And of course, some heroes even began to turn against Hope and Good, believing the world couldn't be good if the greatest beacon of hope and love they had needed to be ripped away.

2035

Hero work is a Shadow of its former self. They still save many, but heroes are treated with an unease by some. Many of them are deviants, whether by drug or sex addiction in their off time. Many tried to take the place Madame Power left but all of them failed. Hope existed, but it was often momentary. Heroes were thought of as the Wall between Death and Life, not Guardians of Hope. Protectors, not Idols to strive to be. Heroes have begun to finally reach Madame Power's strength, though none are stronger than her still. The Government contracts many of them for specific protections for buildings or groups, some heroes are scummy in how they run their businesses, and this is where you come in.

A somewhat newer hero (or brand new if you want, that's fine too) who works for a local fairly decent network. A small break in at a local government facility occured and it's typical hero who guards it was busy. It's a one hero job, the criminals aren't much to speak of, but they just need you to make sure they didn't steal anything already, and make sure they Don't get away with it. It was an easy fight, they weren't criminals at all. They were conspiracy theorists. They believe there's a Hero who could fix the world locked away in that building. Be it curiosity if they were right, or the concern they may have hurt someone inside, you explored the building for a bit. And you were met with a sight nobody could've ever Foreseen.

Locked in a test tube and kept in ice, with tubes and wires poking into her frozen body, was a frame everyone in the world knew from the Largest monument on the planet. Alive and well, kept essentially on ice. Will you free her? Try to take her power for yourself? Uncover the mystery of why she is here? Or do you have something else in mind for the World's Greatest Hero?

Hello! I tend to write too much, I apologize, just wanted to fully define this world's details. My name is Taran, I'm an RPer in my Early 20s. I got this idea the other day when I random thought hit me. I'm a big fan of Superman's sort of Mentor role for most heroes in his world. He's the strongest, sure, but they all also look up to him like a legend. To them he's a shard of what they should try to be. He is Hope itself. Even Batman says sometimes that it was Superman who showed him, quote "Justice doesn't always have to come from the Darkness." So what would a world look like that lost their mentor before they finished learning from them? A world that wasn't ready to lose them but instead, had to learn to push forward in the dark without their beacon? And then another thought hit. How would the Hero feel if they came back to see it later? How would other heroes deal with that? This hero was hope and power itself once, now they're a relic from a lost age of safety. Especially if this hero really wasn't... Ok anymore. And so... We have this.

For a description of how I see this world itself, it's takes elements from a lot of different popular representations of superheroes. Password is the 2nd hero I named in 1990. Of course there's the obvious DC and Marvel Parallels (Captain Hero-Captain America, Madame Power-Superman, obviously) but also elements came into mind such as Private Superhero networks like Dispatch, or the more depraved view these traumatized people have like The Boys (before it sucked). The government also will play a very "Cecil" Role in the story at some points, cycling between negative and positive quite often. This is a world where the old guard is still around, but they're too old to even really be listened to. Heroes are so strong and young now that the Older and Weaker heroes can't get these messages about being a Moral Paragon out there. The world is extremely dangerous now, with Villains everywhere and the power of these beings constantly growing. Technology has definitely advanced, holograms and such exist now, but this isn't a cyberpunk world. It's just a little more advanced than ours. Also to be clear: No currently existing Political figures will be present in this. We can represent ideologies, but I don't want to have a story beat revolve around the country called "The Aligned Counties of America" and their political race between "Tonald Dump" and "Boe Jiden". We aren't representing specific people. Just maybe ideologies.

Madame Power herself seems like her power would trivialize the story, yes. But there are two important reasons she won't.

1: I plan for this story to largely revolve around investigating, speaking and such. Fights will happen, but I don't plan for that to be the focus of this story. From an emotional standpoint she's extremely weak and vulnerable at the moment, meaning she's probably going to be my narrative punching bag the most in many ways.

2: The world is catching up to her strength. She's still the strongest single being, but even ignoring her frankly Terrible mental health there are others who are nearing her strength. Enough of them that 2-3 of the strongest heroes attacking her at once would absolutely not go her way anymore, when in her era the gap was so big she probably could've fought every other hero 1 on 1 in the 90s and claimed victory with ease. Heroes are getting exponentially stronger and she's still a hero from the 90s and 2000s. Almost every hero can throw cars, shrug off bullets and whatnot now, tricks that used to be unique in her time are only mildly uncommon now. She's not at her full strength anymore and while she's still stronger than everyone while limited, they're catching up fast.

As for RP related stuff, I don't have a ton of hard-line "RULES" but I've got a few preferences aside from those.

RULES

- 18+ only for a multitude of reasons. I AM 18+ and have no desire to do this with a Minor due to potential themes and scenarios.

- Communication is key. While I only RP on Discord, we absolutely will be having our initial conversation talking about wants, limits (in every metric, not just that one) and such on here. Along with this rule, if you aren't going to be around for a day or so,just tell me. I've got RP partners busy with work and dealing with hospital visits and such often, and I'm always ok with waiting. But the important part: tell me at some point. Ghosting is frequent and I'd rather not assume you're ghosting only to find out you needed surgery to live and I'm an asshole for vanishing because I didn't know that.

- There's a Password, I'm absolutely not handing it to you however If I wrote an entire post I want you to read it, good luck finding it.

- If I catch you using AI at all, Instant block. I actually have lost opportunities due to AI before, and I hate everything about AI. I did before that, but that reinforced it.

- Third Person, Past Tense. At least 2 paragraphs. Any more than that is up to you, I can match it, that's just the least I can work with.

PREFERENCES

- While I do hope for Smut and such topics in this as NSFW themes will be prevalent due to adding a lot to the story, the story is still priority number 1. Don't expect sex to be constant. It won't be. Frequent, maybe down the line when you're really close with a certain character, but absolutely not without story reason. I'm not someone with a kink list truth be told, but if you have one you'd like to bring up I'm more than happy to try and make sure we both enjoy it equally.

- don't Godmod, nobody likes that shit. Obviously we need to push the plot the way we want somehow so maybe slight amounts at times, but don't just spawn ideas in your character's head for no reason other than you yourself want a specific outcome.

- If you'd like to world build, discuss it with me. I'm super open to that, I just want to make sure we're on the same page so we avoid confusion.

- If you were born on Tuesday, I hate you, leave. (This is a joke.... probably)

- I'm looking for a Co-Writer here, if you want to take the wheel on the story for a bit, just say do and I'll back off on the narrating and let you take over.

- I will definitely prefer feminine (I didn't say female to be clear, Feminine male characters fall into this too) and Trans Partners (like their characters, not themselves) to some degree due to past experiences. I'll be super upfront about that, I know it's annoying, and that's perfectly understandable if that's a turn off for you. And I will say, if you have an outstanding male character and a cool idea, you definitely still have a shot with me. I just want to be upfront about my definite bias because it's very much there and I don't want to pretend it isn't.

- I live in EST as a time zone. I'm almost always free, but I invite you to keep that in mind if you reach out to make sure my midnight isn't your midday.

If you can stomach all of my ramblings and truly are still interested in this, I look forward to speaking with you! Send me a chat with an introduction and to be clear: The more effort put in the better. I have a sort of mental point-system for this kind of thing and you get a lot more points if you bring me more cool shit to work with. Show me what you've got. Until then, best of days!
