Sense of justice is not somethign that everyone have. Most people simply ignore it, plenty of people end up going straight up against it, becomming criminals... But even then, there are those who decide to not just benefit from law and order, but to become its protectors. The police force, modern day heroes! Men and women who join the ranks of this fine organization of public safety, ready to risk their lives for the good of the others. One of them was Alex. Comming from wealthy, old money family, he would have every right to be a privilaged princeling, like his other siblings for that matter... But no. Despite being of rather.... Not intimidating build and with his physical strenght and constitution leaving a lot to desire, his strong sence of justice guided him to the academy... And well, even if he underperformed in physical exams, at least he was damn good invesitgator. The academy was also where he met Kate, his future partner in both life and service on the force. Just like Alex, Kate always respected the uniform and while less abotu justice, she wanted to better her community and make it a better place for everyone. Especially given that unlike Alex, who came from a sheltered, king like mansion outside of the city, Kate had a lot of expirience in person, comming from one of the most poor areas of the city and by no means the safest one either. She always wanted to help and while at first it meant joining local community organizations, becomming a cop seemed like the best long term solution. Especially as her own sisters also decided to support the community, be that by becomming a teacher or nun.
Regardless, Alex and Kate might have had very different background and up bringing, but they both fell head over heels for one another and by the first year of academy, they were already dating, with Alex even proposing to his beloved on the day of their graduation. They even both found work in the police department of Kate's home district, meaning they could really help local community a lot... And there were many reasons for it. Mugging, shady dealings and even prostitution, local folks were not the most law obiding citizen. And as luck would have it, Alex and Kate seemed to always be called in on the intervention to thugs that... Well, happened to be black studs.
