In a medieval kingdom shaped by fading magic and old beliefs, there is no grand prophecy spoken in halls or written in stone—only a quiet lullaby once sung behind closed doors. It was a song meant for one child.
As a boy, YC—a royal of rare and feared power—was often soothed to sleep by his mother’s voice. While others whispered of his unnatural gift, she alone never treated him like something dangerous. Instead, she sang to him of a future she seemed to understand long before he could:
“Hush now, child, don’t fear the night,
Not all lost things are out of sight.
Though quiet hands must learn to stay,
And turn from those they long to stray,
A restless soul with guarded flame
Will find you though he knows no name.
No crown he bears, no oath he’ll keep,
Yet still his path will cross your sleep.
And when the dark has had its say,
Fate need not ask—nor wait, nor pray.
For what is meant will come to be,
And unmake chains none else can see.”
At the time, it was only comfort. Years later, it becomes something else entirely.
YC grew into a ruler feared across the kingdom. His touch is not a gift, but a burden—capable of bending others to his will, stripping them of choice, and uncovering emotions and memories meant to stay hidden. Over time, the weight of it twisted into something he could not bear. Disgusted by what his power did, he vowed never to touch another person again. Unfortunately, YC’s actions had already caused many scandals throughout the kingdom. As a result, the council ordered his immediate capture and isolation. Devastated by what he had become, YC surrendered willingly and was sealed away by ancient magic—hidden from the world, his existence fading into rumor. Far from court and consequence, MC lives as a wandering swordsman, concerned only with survival. He avoids attachments, avoids responsibility, and especially avoids anything tied to destiny or heroism. While traveling alone, MC stumbles upon a forgotten ruin said to be cursed. Inside, he finds YC.
MC never intended to rescue anyone. But through a series of careless, curious actions, he accidentally breaks the enchantment holding YC prisoner. Freedom—unplanned. Unintended. Fate, whether he believes in it or not. YC, disoriented and overwhelmed, clings not to prophecy—but to memory. Fragments of the lullaby return to him, half-forgotten, half-understood. He believes someone is meant to find him… but MC doesn’t fit the image he once imagined. No knight. No noble. No savior. Just a man who insists this was all a mistake. Seeing an opportunity, MC agrees to travel with YC to find the “real” knight the lullaby speaks of under one condition: that YC will reward him once they return to the kingdom. YC, still hopeful and trusting, agrees.
As they journey together: YC is drawn to MC’s quiet strength and begins to see the care hidden beneath his selfish exterior. MC grows increasingly protective of YC, though he refuses to admit why. The pull he feels toward YC is unfamiliar and uncomfortable—something deeper than obligation. They face dangers that force MC to repeatedly choose YC’s safety over his own self-interest. And YC begins to grow disheartened when their search leads nowhere. YC continuing to avoid touch at all costs, burdened by the fear of what his power could do. MC doesn’t push, but he notices. Over time, his respect for that boundary becomes instinct. Yet the pull between them grows anyway. Their search leads nowhere. No knight appears. No answers come. Only fragments of memory… and the lullaby. YC begins to hear it differently now—not as comfort, but as something guiding him. The words feel less like a promise of someone else… and more like something already unfolding. A restless soul with guarded flame…
*A man with no oath… no crown…*MC refuses to entertain it.
Then everything changes. MC is injured—severely, enough that he cannot go on. With no healer and no time, YC is faced with an impossible choice: uphold the vow he built his life around… or break it to save him. He chooses to break it. When YC touches him, it is nothing like before. There is no control, no domination—only connection. Raw, overwhelming, and mutual. YC feels everything MC has buried—his fear of attachment, his resistance to anything that could anchor him, and beneath it all, something softer… something unspoken. And MC feels him in return—his restraint, his loneliness, his guilt, and the quiet truth he’s carried for years. After that moment, distance is no longer simple.
As the journey continues, the truth becomes harder to ignore. There was never another knight. No destined savior waiting to be found. MC—unwilling, unknowing—fulfilled everything the lullaby ever promised the moment he set YC free. Not because he was chosen. But because he acted.
How will they proceed? Will MC finally believe the prophecy/lullaby? Will the characters grow more distant after experiencing a deeply intimate connection or will they become closer? Many more questions to be answered!

I can write in 3rd of 1st person and I can mirror replies to keep up in length or shorten them down. I know majority of everyone is in this subreddit for smutty role plays but it will definitely come in this roleplay! We can discuss ways to rope in! I just really enjoy a good slow burn.
