The night was cold and dreary. Rain pounded down, forming thick puddles in the crevices of the sidewalk. My feet were soggy from the trek, but luckily my hood protected me from the rain, albeit at the cost of restricted vision. I had to reach up to adjust it more times than I would like. Peeking through from the canvas at every intersection.

A deep sigh escaped my lungs. It’s been a long walk home, with an even longer way to go. I continued on before reaching a dark alleyway.

I’m more than familiar with this particular alley. It’s the fastest way home; cutting through the convoluted main streets and offering a straight path to my apartment. I decide it’s safe and step forward, into the dark alleyway. I quicken my pace and keep my head down, hiding under my hood.
