It'll be a Multi-Para, Literate, Dark-Fantasy Western Setting using System: DnD 5e 2014!

PREMISE:

The Country of Vasovia, the American equivilant in this world. The pilgrims had left Blavick by boat in hopes to find new gods to follow. Vasovia was a prosperous land, and within the ancient ruins the slowly spreading growing states of Vasovia were each full of their own sects and deities.

Vasovia advanced over time, and with it the darker nature of the Country grew more grim. Uncommonly but present great beasts and monsters assaulted the folk of Vasovia.

But- organizations worked in the background hidden and quiet removing such beasts for years - keeping the nature of them hidden. These organizations were the Hunters and the Slayers.

The Hunters, their members cursed with lycanthropy using their monsterous bestial abilities to fight off these creatures.

The Slayers cursed with vampirism, using their enhanced bodies and dark magic to remove the beats.

But- thirty years ago, right after the Vasovian Civil War the Scourge occured.

Cultists, Warlocks, and Witches had conducted a ritual - the Scourge. This caused the Moon to become cursed and cause the grounds of the planet to become hallowed. Full Moons brightly shine a deep sanguine red, those that sleep under its bloody glow become cursed, and during the New Moon, a fog rolls throughout all the land the local fauna becoming cursed and growing more bestial forms.

Since the Scourge the Hunters and the Slayers have been brought into the light trying to remove these forces. Humanity, unprepared quickly fell to the monsters that came forth to the Scourge huddled in small reinforced cities and towns - people rarely leave to conquer their razed lands.

Since the Scourge began, magic which used to be used only in small circles has become more common - growing stronger and infectious to more and more easily abused to create more conflict and destruction.

Your PC will start out as a new fledgling who joined either the Slayers or the Hunters - not yet gifted their curse - under apprenticeship of a fully fledged Hunter/Slayer to try and remove the beasts and hopefully undo the Scourge.
