[M4A] AMONG THE TREES

Before I get into the story, some important details: This is horror/romance, to what degree, I'm willing to work out with you. There will be body horror, gore(optional), and most likely VIOLENCE between our characters. Finally, I am not a stickler for literacy. There is a time and place for paragraphs, but I won't devote 5 sentences just to my characters' subtle ticks in a regular convo. I'd like to imagine I'm pretty literate outside of that. I'm flexible with whatever perspective you'd prefer to write from, I'm writing the intro in first person merely for the VIBES.

—---------------------------------------------------------

MODERN DAY, FALL, 8AM.

SOMEWHERE IN THE MINNESOTAN WILDERNESS.

As the first cold breath of winter ran through the rather remote town of (IDONTKNOW), so did follow hers… Death. Among the trees, the birds fell silent, and the townsfolk opened the pens, letting all but the calves and their mothers out into the wilderness. But the monsters of the forest would not be satisfied by the simple, bland taste they had been met with year after year any longer. So, when the people had thought their safety guaranteed, as it had been, and let their children from their homes once more, the creatures of the wood were patiently waiting…

—-------------------

MODERN DAY, WINTER, 7:30 PM

A clearing, I was perched, among the trees. My rifle was rested to my side, hanging heavy from the sling that I had hardly thought to place into an appropriate position. My mind sought for anything to focus on, the heaving of my chest, the foggy breath that left my lips with every exhale, a surprise, seeing how my body was wracked with a panic so intense I believed I may die. As I watched my breath travel, it led my eyes to the setting sun, barely peeking from past the trees of the deeper wood. That's where it came from, the beast. Its footprints were covering mine, as if it had mimicked my every step, but faster… Or maybe it was trying to erase the evidence I was here? I shuddered at the thought. I had thought the snow and ice to be an advantage, whatever this beast was, it would surely have a hard time sneaking up on me in the cold. Until one of the trees had started to move, that was when I knew something was wrong, very wrong. We weren't told about any of this cryptid bullshit when we were hired, we knew it was something supernatural, yeah, but.. what the hell is this? I balled my fist, thinking of my friends, still out there. That thing, still out there, hiding. I recalled its eyes once it had shifted, beady, black… without soul, without emotion, the silence screaming at me much louder than any regular beast could…

And..

It's still out there, among the trees.

—---------------------------’

Hello! Now that you've finished reading, I think the intro has made it pretty obvious as to you, the reader's role in the roleplay. A SHAPESHIFTER!! Awesome, right? For some reason or other, our characters are NOT going to kill each other, (though they can definitely try!) This is romance, and if not clearly a slow burn, (with plenty of freaky ERP things down the line don't worry.) You may play any kind of cryptid with free reign on your abilities, the only requirement I have is that you're not like.. omnipotent. Shoot me a DM if you'd like to discuss more!
