50, [M4F], #UK #Online - Tired of knocking on closed or fake doors so I'll have to open mine and see who walks in.

Hi, I'm Jack and I'm in the UK. I'm married, a father and grandfather. I've only been on Reddit a short while and I'm still getting used to separating the chaff from the wheat but I've had some good conversations though they unfortunately didn't last very long.
Like most people on here, I've tried reaching out to the female authors of posts on this sub but I suspect that they are either bots, playing the numbers game for dopamine, or just getting overwhelmed and picking a random number to talk to. That strategy hasn't been very successful to talk to people so hopefully this might result in something of value.
At this stage, I'm not even looking for any relationship - that's the cherry on top. Making friends which last longer than a few days is the goal and I absolutely would spend and invest time, thought and feeling in the right person if they turned up.
I'd like to think I'm a reasonably average Gen-X man. I have a wide range of interests but I won't list them here - that's an exercise for you, dear Reader, to find out if your curiosity is so inclined. I do find the Reddit app quite unreliable for private messages but I do use WhatsApp. I do not use telegram however.
Age is not really an issue for me. I'm interested in another person's view of the world or topics of which I have little to no knowledge no matter the number. I don't ghost but I do call out people if they aren't keeping to their word or putting little effort in.
I believe it's a common courtesy to tell a person if one isn't interested in conversing so that time isn't wasted. Life is too short to leave someone with all the "what if" questions which occur when someone ghosts.
