M (60) Mom just turned 80. About 30 yrs ago while helping my mom move to a condo I grabbed a box in the attic that was very heavy I asked her what's in it and she said books. I opened it up when she went downstairs and found diaries , about 3 of them. I was very curious but also guilty as I skimmed through some of her entries in the one that seemed the most recent like when she was in her 30s and 40s. One date caught my attention because it was around the time I was away for college. I heard her coming back up but still had time to flip a page and saw my friend's name and the word " fuck". I slammed the book closed and put it back in the box.
