Stimulant medications are a more effective approach than brain zapping antidepressants for people with depression

I don't know if it's because of my ADHD but stimulants are about the only medications that make it harder to dwell on negative thoughts and mask underlying issues while keeping you active and on the move, getting your shit done once you're locked in and unfiltered when talking.

So, wouldn't it be more logical for doctors to prescribe likes of Vyvanse to depressed people in low dose who can focus on improving their lives while on it short term instead of giving antidepressants that can blunt emotions, personality and affect the brain?

How does that even motivate someone to turn their life around? I threw that shit away years ago because it gave me exactly that after just 2 months of use.

Your average street junkie addict vs alcoholic addict in reality – Stop the Shaming!

Average street junkie addict – Once mom’s favorite. Now broken by untreated mental illness or fucked up trauma, keeps their feuds in the drug scene and still checks on 5 of their bipolar, ADHD or whatever ex girlfriends but wouldn’t lay a finger on and practically kneel over them.

Their tendencies to show introversion in public and leave people alone who are so used to seeing them combined with lying, stealing in secret and feeling shame are a testament to this.

Average alcoholic addict – Functions in daily life with a stable income, living under the same roof with an innocent looking wife and 3 children while showing a deadbeat attitude that leaves the household traumatized by domestic violence. They have access to large SUVs and take out their frustrations on random people over the weekend as an outlet for their anger.

Our mental health system has turned into a money making scheme, stigmatizing poor junkies (i hate that term) and delaying their recovery yet everyone praises and adores the former alcoholic deadbeat with an already established life and support network for being sober while cashing in on their sobriety through marketing and media.

Meanwhile, others are left in the shadows and completely dehumanized as society continues to misjudge them.

I have bunch of Vyvanse and Dex leftovers and have been contemplating to go 80-100mg to get that speedy euphoric boost just to overcome my shitty week.

But i’m scared that I will build tolerance or end up as zombie where my therapeutic dose won’t work.

Low activity days = Low dose (40mg or less) to give your brain a rest and to prevent tolerance on higher dose.

High activity days = High dose (between 50mg to 70mg) = Speedy and confidence effect = Gets job done quicker then downgrade your dose later in the week.

Using empty capsules, weigh and divide Vyvanse into more/less or half for morning and afternoon to get most of the focus and energy all day rather than 5-6 hours effect on full dose before feeling sleepy.

Etc...

Does this sound logical and workable or will it open pandora’s box?

In case if it's relevant, you got dexamphetamine boosters in your hand as a back up as well but you only want to use it as a last resort.

It seems strange that this sub strongly advocates for harm reduction which is great and all but why do people feel the need to constantly shit on meth addicts when they’re already at their lowest and are treated like they’re at the bottom of the barrel everywhere which can delay them from seeking help?

Many of those people just happen to be born into and grew up in environments where heavy alcohol, nicotine and weed use, family violence, poor education and inappropriate behavior are seen as socially acceptable. Untreated mental illness is also prevalent in these environments and it further complicate things when they eventually develop trauma and other issues and society often shuns people from these backgrounds. These are all gateway to meth.

Moreover, a lot of them are literally walking ADHD and sometimes autism which can overlap. Their preexisting mental condition just exacerbate their symptoms and open up to a schizophrenic one. Also, growing up ADHD in those environment is a recipe for disaster and they may face unequal treatment in healthcare later on so it's a never ending cycle.

In terms of their behavior, public perception plays a role here. The way society treats them as if they don’t exist is quite sad and distressing. Their low self esteem gets shattered which may delay them from seeking help, similar to how many homeless people feel. I’ve experienced this first hand when interacting with meth users and their self esteem is so low that they won’t approach unless I speak to them first.

My doctor is still waiting for me to find the right dose before he can start sending scripts for short acting dexamphetamine booster for the afternoon as backup so i don’t get sleepy.

I can’t choose, it’s so frustrating. All it does is just mask my negative thoughts and control my emotional dysregulation to keep going with my day BUT that just last 5-6 hours only.

I experienced the 20mg honeymoon phase for a week which faded away so it’s useless.

I don’t feel anything on 30mg

I felt slightly balanced with 40mg until it faded away after 2 weeks.

I’m on 50mg at the moment, it made me feel speedy, keeps me going and i dont care what people think it which is what I want but the effect is getting weaker by the day.

60mg gave me emotional blunting so I stopped after 2 days so 70mg won’t work now.

Something is wrong here. Am I missing something?? On top of that, they say Vyvanse quiten your brain but it doesn’t with me, i can still hear sounds and loops as usual.

I sleep around 6-7 hours, take them around 5-6am, my protein intake is 80g - 100g and I avoid anything with vitamin C. I also drink coke zero in the afternoon when i’m having bad days but it doesn’t affect sleep.
