I've got a few ideas for hdg fics and for one of them I wanted a theme to be a floret becoming more independent as they spend time with their owner eventually leading to the realization that the floret could leave and be fine. I don't know if that's a thing that can happen. Like just from the idea of the compact I would think it could in theory. If the floret grew and changed to a point they would be happier independent then I feel like the affini would have to let them go.
I haven't come across any fics where this has happened, haven't been in to hdg very long tbf so I could be missing it. Is there any where this happens or is at least discussed as a possibility. I'm not talking about a ward that's determined to be independent I'm thinking like has been a pet for years had some big issue that they've gotten over in their time as a pet.
