Update
Hi folks,
The last few weeks there has been an incredible uptick in bots and spam posts. The last 2 years or so I have owned this subreddit, I have never had to moderate it to this extent. I apologize for the spam that's getting through.
When I get some free time I'll be looking into additional measures I can take to curb the spam. In the mean time, I've implemented the following changes to try and slow down bots:
- No text posts, image only.
- Turned on Reddit's auto-mod features to maximum for ban evasion and bot detection. This may mean a few legitimate people won't be able to post, if you can't message me and I'll see if there's a whitelist feature.
- I'll be looking to implement regex on posts to try and catch the common titles bots use.
Please continue to report these posts as I don't check the subreddit itself daily, but I see it in my notifications on my home page if it's reported. If I can't stop the spam I'll look into promoting volunteers who are open to removing posts as they see it, but I'd like to save that as a last ditch effort.
