Hello everyone,
First of all I'm a 23M,
I've been using benzodiazepines for 2 years or so (Mid 2024-Till now), I strictly use benzos when needed and sometimes recreationally, I started off with Lexotanil (Bromazepam) 3mg, I honestly don't remember how much I was taking because each period during these 2 years was different, so some weeks I wouldn't use them at all, and some weeks I would use them a couple of times,
Therapeutic dose: 3mg-6mg
Recreational dose: between 6mg-12mg.
Then I discovered the gold standard Benzo, Valium (Diazepam) I always got the 10mg tablets, that was during the second year (2025), I used it in the same way as Lexotanil, some weeks I don't use it, and some weeks I use it a couple of times and also recreationally,
Therapeutic dose: 5mg-20mg
Recreational dose: 20mg-40mg.
Now the thing is when I got on to this subreddit, people were saying that 30mg plus would knock you out, but it doesn't really do that for me, it never did even when I used high doses for the first time, (The first time I took 40mg I was driving for 6 hours at night and then returned home at dawn and slept) I don't know if this has to do with Valium very long half-life and how it accumulates over time and creates some tolerance and dependency,
But still it's a bit weird? Like why don't I feel that strong of effects on them like most people do? (I think)
And I once cut off all drugs for 2 weeks straight and even when I took Valium for the first time after that (10mg), I didn't feel much of its effects either
.
I had an upper endoscopy last week and I wasn't taking much Valium like before, the sedative they use during the procedure is very week for me (This was my second endoscopy) so I took it upon myself and did some research and decided to somewhat sedate myself by taking 30mg two hours before the procedure, and so I did, and I even told my doctors, and they were a bit surprised that I was functioning pretty normally and they even gave the sedative they use on top of the Valium and then I just walked out and continued with my day but I slept a bit earlier during the day.
I also use Librax for GI issues, also when needed.
So it's still a bit weird isn't it? Or is that how tolerance work and accumulates overtime
I also use other drugs, and I'm a somewhat chronic cannabis smoker, but nothing heavy at all, mostly spilfs, no dabs, no carts or highly concentrated THC products.
