Since we were kids we had always been close, told each other everything, and even rumored to be dating a couple times in high school. Right before graduation my parents are killed in a car accident and it rocks me. I all but shut down but with you pulling me I do graduate. You always strived to be a doctor/nurse and had already been accepted to a great nursing school. I was kind of undecided but wanted something business or marketing. Right after graduating I join the army and all but disappearing only getting a couple updates but vague to say the least.

A couple years later you are lead nurse of a trauma unit for a big hospital near our home town. One day as you come into work the night nurse comes over “Only thing I really have is this coming in probably about an hour” she says and hands you a chart. “Trauma case but sound like it just keep him comfortable until…yeah” he voice fades. Opening the chart seeing ‘Department of the Army’ on the transfer. “Guy is like a super soldier. Been all over and medals and awards. Got injured in an attack in Afghanistan sent to Bagram, to Walter Reed and now here. They don’t think he will make it through the weekend” she says before wishing you a good day and heading out. You look at the chart more and then see it…’SFC Walker, Colton’ after all this time of wondering where I was or if I was okay I was an hour from landing in your hospital and said I probably wouldn’t make it out.

It was your senior year and you were basically the most popular girl in school plus dating the quarterback. After graduation you planned on following your boy friend to collage since he got a big sports scholarship. That all changed right after graduation when you found out you were pregnant. He almost instantly rejects it saying he can’t be bothered by a baby being a star quarterback and NFL dreams. Last minute you change schools staying closer to home for the baby.

Move in day comes and you are moving stuff in your dorm which was a shared living space and little kitchenette with a private room on each side. When you come in you can see someone is already moved in so you take the other room. After your parents leave you to finish unpacking I walk in the dorm seeing boxes in the other room i glance over then call out “Hey man I was going to order pizza. Got any preference?” I say

The dorms were not supposed to be coed but there was a mix up in processing now pairing us together. Rooms had all filled up so at least for this semester we are going to be dorm mates.

Slow burn building romance with the drama of your pregnancy.

Since we were little we have always been close. As we grew up we stayed close friends even laughing off rumors of us dating but secretly we both had thought about it but didn’t want to admit it to one another. Being so close your parents were like mine as mine were like yours. Toward the end of my senior year my parents are killed in a traffic accident. It sends me to a dark place and I basically shut everyone out barely graduating high school. After graduation you try to figure out what my plans are but I’ve all but disappeared. You eventually find out I joined the Army and was shipped over seas right after I joined. Over the next couple years I send a few letters letting you know I was okay but never saying much about where I was or what I was doing. Your dad gets sick and you find out he has cancer. His cancer is aggressive and it’s only a few months before he loses his battle. The day of his service is picture perfect and you couldn’t ask for a better day for a totally outdoor service. During the service on top of a hill over looking your dad’s grave site you see a familiar shadow over looking the service. After the service and most people have gone it’s just your mom close family and the pastor talking to you I slowly walk over to the casket placing my hand on it and saying a few words to him. I turn and look at you “I’m so sorry…” I say softly

You have always been a big city girl. Growing up in the hustle and bustle of New York then moving to LA finishing school and going to collage. Always having everything you wanted as both your parents were well off as well as your entire family. After spending time in New York with some friends after collage you decide to drive cross country to see the country. One stormy night in the middle of no where with spotty cell service and not seeing a town for miles you have car trouble. Stopped on the side of the road for almost an hour you finally see a truck pull up behind you. I get out and offer to look at your car finding figuring out it will be morning before we can get the part you need. The closest town with a hotel is almost an hour away so I offer you a room at my house just up the road. We go to my place and eat with a couple drinks after. Maybe it’s the simplistic life maybe it the drinks or my charm but the night leads to us sleeping together.

The next morning I wake up getting your car fixed and ready for you sending you on your way. I figure I would never see you again even though I think about you and that night. You think about me and that night as well…

*Hopefully you find this starter intriguing. As far as how it goes from here I’m open to how that goes. A couple ideas I have:

You find out who I am and search for me secretly not wanting your parents to know about that night

You find out a couple weeks later that you are pregnant. Do you find me and tell me or just take care of baby yourself

You tell your parents about the night just not all of it and we build a life together
