Hi there. I'm in the mood for a mother/son story. What follows is a bit of a writing sample and story seed, but if you have another direction for that pairing I'm open to that as well.

Kathleen slid into the back seat, turning her face to avoid the Uber driver's eyes. Twenty-eight years of marriage had come to this; her finally walking out with nothing but what she was wearing, certain that her husband would cancel their joint accounts. She had enough money of her own to get to one place. A place she hoped she'd be welcome.

She studiously stared out the window as the car made its way to her son's house. Rain began to slam onto the roof the car, a downpour that threatened a storm. The driver soon pulled into a driveway, announcing they were at her destination. She mumbled a thans, tgen opened the door, hurrying over rain-slicked tiles as much as she could. It was less than twenty metres from her door to the front landing, but even that was enough to slick her hair to her head and soak her shirt, turning it from white to translucent. She pressed the door bell frantically, waiting long moments in the rain until her son appeared, borrowed crinkling as he read her face.

She crumbled, stepping forward, and he put the pieces together. Sodden as she was, he still reached out for her, cradling her in his strong arms. Rocking her slightly as he whispered she was safe now. She buried her face in his shoulder, taking a wracking breath as she let go, clinging to him an tearing up.

The basic synopsis of tge story is that a mother flees a neglectful, or possibly outright abusive, toxic relationship. Initially she plans to stay for a short while, but she moves in and becomes the lady of the house.

Perhaps the son lives alone and taking her on as a housemate helps defray expenses.

Perhaps he's nearing the point of marriage and the mother disapproves of the girl he's about to marry. Maybe there's actually something amiss, but the son is unable or unwilling to see she's a gold digger or cheater. Or perhaps there's nothing wrong with the girlfriend at all, just a jealous mother who becomes a homwrecker, running off the girl to ensure her son can focus on the woman who really matters.

I prefer to write on Discord as it has a friendly UI set up but I can make Reddit work. I generally write 2-4 decent paragraphs and am happy with either first or third person.
