A friends story from countryside
Started as a casual hookup with a girl from my gym.
At first she was the one chasing more — texting first, calling, getting attached, acting possessive when other girls came around. I was relaxed and emotionally detached back then.
Then slowly everything flipped.
I got emotionally invested. She became distant. Sometimes warm, sometimes cold. One day she’d call me because she was bored, next day she’d barely talk on call. We’d stay silent for minutes like both of us wanted connection but didn’t know how to handle it anymore.
We had fights about attention, effort, money, mixed signals, boundaries. I even blocked her once, unblocked her, called her again. Whole thing became emotionally exhausting.
The weird part is — attraction was still there. In gym she’d avoid eye contact but still find reasons to touch me, write on my arm, stay close. We kissed multiple times. Sometimes she’d pull close, then suddenly step back like she was scared of attachment or scared of being seen.
At one point she literally said: “If we keep talking, one of us will get too attached.”
And honestly, I think both of us already were.
Now I genuinely can’t tell: Was this just two emotionally confused people trying to stay casual? Or was I holding onto the beginning version of her for too long?
