Serious Question – Did Increasing Carbamazepine (Timonil) Dose Help Your Nerve Symptoms?
I have a problem with an oversensitive genitofemoral nerve that has been irritated for about 8 years, most likely because of an inguinal hernia surgery. The nerve causes muscle twitches/spasms and abnormal sensations in the area.
My doctor prescribed Timonil (carbamazepine), starting at 300 mg daily, because of these symptoms caused by the damaged/irritated nerve. I took 300 mg but didn’t notice any improvement. Now my doctor has increased the dose to 750 mg per day.
Do you think there’s still a chance that the nerve symptoms could calm down with the higher dose, or is it unlikely if 300 mg didn’t work at all? My doctor said it’s definitely worth trying, but I’d like to hear other people’s experiences. If you’ve taken carbamazepine/Timonil, did increasing the dose make a noticeable difference for you?
