The rules are simple, written on the first page.

The human whose name is written in this note shall be filled with intense sexual desire or pleasure.
The writer must picture their face while writing. Otherwise, it won't work.
Additional details (time, place, specific acts, kinks, duration, or personality shifts) can be added for precision. Vague entries default to "intense public horniness lasting 30 minutes."
The effects are irresistible. Victims cannot fight the compulsion, though they retain their personality and memories afterward.

Multiple entries stack. Overuse on the same person risks permanent changes: heightened libido, new fetishes, or obsessive attraction to the writer.

The writer can include themselves for mutual effects, but Ryuk warns with a grin: "Humans break easily when you play with their bodies and minds."
