[Fu4F] City of (Scattered) Dreams
Starter | Simple gigs were never simple at street level. Often times they were simple and straightforward only for the fixers or the clients. Mercs were cogs in the machine, their results the byproduct. It was dirty work, but it was lucrative work. Of the nearly ten million citizens in Night City, hundreds of thousands dreamed of being a merc and becoming a legend in the city. About a fifth of those dreamers actually started that chase, joining one of the various gangs, or aligning themselves with various fixers or corporations who didn't want more blood on their hands than normal.
Selene Chiaro was born into it, a nomad exiled from her clan, forced to adapt or perish just to make it from Oklahoma to Night City. Nomads were mercs by default, becoming jack-of-all-trades and selling those abilities to get whatever jobs they could. Selene made damn well sure to sell herself high and deliver higher, and eight years in, it was starting to pay off. She lived in Megabuilding H4, on the southern edge of Santo Domingo overlooking most of Pacifica, with the incomplete stadium project in the forefront, and she earned it. Blood, sweat, and tears, all of it gave her something to call her own, but that wasn't all it took to pull your head above water in the "City of Dreams".
Anyone that lives in Night City knows one guarantee; nothing good ever lasts. Home is rarely ever permanent, especially in the wild west occupying the southern edge of what used to be Coronado Bay. If you worked as a merc, whether it be as a solo, a runner, a techie, rockergal, nomad, anyone willing to get their hands covered in blood and filth. It's all Selene had known, to roll with the punches and keep her head on a swivel. Along the way, she had created a small circle, a clique of outcasts among outcasts, but a team that had become resilient, dependable, and the closest thing to friends you could ask for in the hellscape that was Night City.
There was Erica Katsunori, the team's resident techie. A 24-year old of Japanese descent, she had basic netrunning skills, but she was incredibly handy as a weapons tuner. Give her some tools and perameters, and she'll fine tune a pistol into a long range rifle.
Lynne Cerna, or Dagger, was Selene's first friend in Night City. The 32-year old former Trauma Team medtech fell out and began working on her own before linking up with Selene. Dagger was Selene's left hand gal, and one of the more grounded members of the team. Purposeful, she was understandably clinical in her actions, but she wasn't the most approachable person on the team. A cold exterior protected a vulnerable core, a trait of many medtechs.
On Selene's right hand was Kati Burwell, or Calypso as she was called when the team were working on a gig. A 28-year old rockergirl, Kati was as advertised; an established substance abuser that frequently flew off the cuff. Shoot first, ask questions never. Sometimes a liability, always a fighter, and undoubtedly the best quickdraw on the team, it wasn't particularly close. As charismatic as she was dangerous, Calypso had more than lived up to her callname, and wore like a badge of honor.
Briana Monarrez was the team's dedicated netrunner. The most isolated of the group, the 27-year old Latina was mostly remote, but every once in a while she made her presence with the team to hang out, a token of appreciation of being included and considered by the team.
Star Marson was the fixer closest to the team, someone who had the team's loyalty mostly led by Selene. She had given Selene her first gigs once she was in Night City proper. The Dogtown-resident was cagey, but like any good fixer, cagey and well-connected was part of the toolbox. Selene trusted Star for the right gigs, and Selene and her team had in turn earned Star's trust for being professional and effective.
It was just after sunset on Monday, December 23rd, 2075, and the team had been rallied at the Tango Tors Motel in Jackson Plains, southeast of the city in the Badlands. They had just completed a gig, a complex rescue that got very loud and messy, but a success. Leave it to NightCorp employees to be easy ransom targets for scavs and Wraiths.
"Arrow...why in the fuck are we meeting up in the fucking desert in December?" Calypso asked, visibly chilly and trying to stay warm.
Arrow leaned against the side of her black Thornton Merrimac MSL3, battling the cool desert winds on her own. "Not a ton of choice. Arasaka's crawling all over the place back home. Searching after David Martinez' gang. Don't wanna deal with those grumpy motherfuckers." She responded, her hands in her jeans pockets as she waited for the rest of the team to arrive. Debrief, get paid, and enjoy Christmas, that was the intended plan in mind. "Everyone's on their way, so we'll make it quick once they get here."

If you've gotten to this point, welcome! I'm Carmen, a 29-year old transwoman located in the Eastern U.S. looking to roleplay with someone who values vivid details, literacy, and thoughtfulness in a roleplay. I greatly prefer roleplaying through Discord (username is carmensienna) due to its easier organization capabilities, and I'm looking for a partner that is interested in doing a long-term roleplay that is about 65/35 story over erotica. I'm of the mindset "quality over quantity", I don't expect fast replies, we all have lives beyond our screens. But I do hold value over detailed, quality responses that show attention and care to the story we're weaving. I'm not big into roleplaying with guys due to residual trauma I've experienced over the past five years, but always welcome friends in general. If you're a guy reading this, you are more than welcome to ask questions, but please don't lie. Thank you!
This roleplay revolves around the lore and setting of Cyberpunk, with the setting using the 2077 variant of Night City, while incorporating more of the Cyberpunk Red lifepaths and systems into the format. Our story would kickstart at the end of 2075/beginning of 2076, before the events of the video game, but while the Netrunners storyline is closing. There won't be much, if any, interaction with canon characters, so get comfortable with OCs aplenty! If you are interested, bring an idea for your main character. I've provided a few team members you could aalter and make your own, but I also enjoy seeing the sort of ideas you bring yourself. From there, we can hit all the other important notes before we start roleplaying. I look forward to hearing from you!
