They were presumed dead until we got word that they were being held and were being sold into slavery, and it wasn’t long before the Jedi had come up with a plan for a mission the most likely option for someone going undercover would be Anakin Since he had experience and would know how to act. Either the council didn’t fully trust Anakin, or they felt that the mission would benefit having two people. They decided to add a second person to accompany him going undercover as his personal slave. Jedi master Shaak Ti volunteered for the role, she had known Anakin since he came to the Jedi order and they worked well together so it seemed like a good fit. They have a few days to train together to make sure that their stories are straight and that they both know how to act together.
