So…this is the afterlife huh? Kinda..bright. And sparse. Really just a white void. Which I was enjoying thanks to that stupid truck that hit me. Great. Super looking forward to the rest of eternity.
Just as I’m getting used to the idea of that, I have to acclimate to another new situation. A chorus of angels, and a gorgeous woman descends from…the sky? Above me anyway. I think. Direction is hard in an endless void.
Aaaaand then she starts to explain how I’m between worlds, and there’s another one in need of saving, and oh my god this is just like those stupid cartoons my little brother watches. Eesocky or whatever.
“Ugh, yeah, yeah okay, I get the deal.” I huff, interrupting the…goddess? Unclear, she probably said it but I wasn’t exactly listening. “I need to go be some kinda fantasy hero right?” Not exactly how I expected my day to go (I was planning on going to my university classes then getting a smoothie), but better than an eternity of nothing.
“Actually, no. We have a hero already, but he keeps spending too long in every village fucking any willing women he comes across. I knew I shouldn’t have made him so attractive.” She sighs “So you’re going to go down there and hopefully distract him from that so he stays on track. We’ll also be giving you a new body to suit his tastes. Thank you for your service!” She chirps, and waves goodbye.
And suddenly I’m falling.
I land with an ‘OOF!’ And rub my now very sore ass, groaning “Nnng…that really hurt, nya…” I blink, freezing up. Did I just…meow?! I look down and yelp, my body…definitely not how I remembered it. But I don’t have long to think about that, as a young man, looking decidedly heroic, appears around a corner of the forest path I find myself on, pausing when he sees me. I spot him at the same time…and my body acts on its own.
I hop up, flashing a grin and lifting my arms, letting my hands curl up like paws “Oh! You must be my master! Nya! It’s nice to meow-t you!” I say with a decidedly ditzy voice that isn’t my own.
Where’s another truck when you need one…
