So recently I've gone through my second stay at a rehab after being a poly addict since I was 15. I'm currently about 140 days sober. Last week I was able to get my doctor to prescribe me Vyvanse again which has made me incredibly happy. Many facets of my life were unmanageable because of ADHD. Having something to help with that and being able to use it as a way to build self control and not act on the urge to just eat the whole bottle has helped make me feel way more stable in my recovery.
The problem is the dosage, they started me on the dose I was on about 4-5 years ago, 30mg. I can somewhat tell it's helping me but it's so incredibly light that I feel like it's just barely working. It feels about half as strong as my very first dose of 15mg Adderall XR when I was 16 and still fairly naive to stimulants.
I know this class of medication works and I tolerate it very well, I think my mind and body have just gotten so used to being bombarded with high doses of much more potent drugs that I've developed something like a "perma-tolerance". I want to ask for a higher dose, ideally at least 50mg without seeming like I'm a drug seeker or just trying to get high off of it. The first few days it definitely worked but the last couple I literally couldn't tell if I had taken it or not.
Has anyone here experienced something similar? What's a good way of discussing this with my doctor without seeming like I'm just trying to get a fix? I know they're gonna try to titrate up by 10mg at a time but I'm almost certain that's just gonna be too little too late.
