An Open Letter to Those Who Left Their Litter Behind at My Favourite Studland Beach (see body)
Dear visitors,
I wonder if, for a moment, you could see this beach through my eyes.
Studland is more than just sand and sea to many of us. It feels like a second home — a place we come to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with nature. Every time I walk along the shore, I feel a sense of peace that only places like this can give.
That’s why it hurts to see bottles, wrappers, and rubbish left behind.
I’m not writing this to judge anyone. Maybe it was an accident, maybe you thought someone else would clean it up, or maybe you didn’t realise how much one small piece of litter can affect this place. But imagine coming home after a long day and finding your home covered in things that don’t belong there.
That’s how this beach feels.
The waves will keep moving, the wildlife will keep living, and people will keep coming here searching for the same beauty we all enjoy. But the choices we make leave a mark.
Before you leave, please look around. Ask yourself: “Would I leave this in my own home?”
Because for many of us, this is home.
Let’s leave Studland the way we found it — or even better than we found it — so the next person can feel the same calm, happiness, and connection that brought us here.
With hope,
Someone who cares about this shore 🌊
