Yesterday night while travelling back from work in an AC local, the crowd was pretty thin. I was standing near the gate area, leaning against the side railing, completely occupied replying to an urgent work message on my phone. I even had my Bluetooth earphones on, though no music was playing because I was too focused on typing.

There are two transgender/eunuch people who regularly travel through that train asking for money. I usually see them often since I’m a regular commuter, and they recognize me too. One of them, honestly, is extremely beautiful and carries herself really well very stylish, confident, and well-maintained. If someone didn’t know, they probably wouldn’t even guess she was transgender.

Sometimes I give them some spare change if I have any. So while I was busy typing, the beautiful one came towards me. I knew she were there but I didn’t even look up at first because I was so focused on my phone. Then I heard her jokingly say, “Oh my God, baba is very busy today,” and when I looked up, she winked at me.

I smiled awkwardly and reached into my pocket to give her some change. The moment I extended my hand, the train suddenly jerked hard. She lost balance and grabbed onto me tightly. My back hit the railing and she ended up pressed completely against me for a couple of seconds. I could literally feel her boobs and breath because she was so close. I completely froze.

After regaining balance, she laughed and said, “Baba, thank you, you saved me today.” Then while adjusting herself, she casually fixed her blouse and grabbed boobs from above to set it, right in front of me, smiled again, winked, and walked ahead.

I was left completely speechless after that. Not going to lie, I felt awkward, shy, and strangely flustered. Since yesterday my brain has been overthinking the whole thing.

I know I’m straight, but the incident genuinely made me think differently about transgender people for the first time. Some of them are honestly very attractive, and beyond that, it made me think about how difficult their lives must be emotionally and socially. How do they experience relationships, attraction, love, loneliness, or intimacy? Who do they connect with emotionally — men, women, other trans people? We often stereotype or avoid them, but yesterday I found myself seeing things from a much more human perspective.

Just wanted to share this here because the whole experience has stayed in my mind since last night.

Would love to know if anyone else has ever had an interaction that unexpectedly changed their perspective like this.
