There was a story someone sent me a link to years ago about a guy who aliens give the ability to reprogram other folks' brains or change their bodies. He initially uses it to get his crush to dump her boyfriend for him, and things eventually escalate until he's got a whole harem of women who he has shared his powers with who try to stop other folks from misusing similar powers.

Highlights include a villain later in the story who uses his powers to make two sisters his slaves, then does the same thing to an FBI agent sent to investigate.

I want to say it was called "The Gift" but that title has proven vague enough to foil my attempts to track it down. Would appreciate any help finding it again.
