Spain is changing my step-brother

Spain is changing my step-brother

I’m a Spanish muslimah, my mom reverted when I was very little and grew up being a Muslim Mashallah. Lately I have been noticing my step brother acting a little weird, and specially too feminine it is scaring me. And now I have seen an actual post of him here on Reddit, I really need advice from maybe Muslims men that can relate to him to help him

European conflicted about hijab girls

Salaam :)
I’ve been curious about something for a while because I have a somewhat unusual background.
I was born into a Christian family here in Europe. My parents divorced when I was very young, and years later my mum married a Muslim man, converted, and they decided to raise me and my stepbrother Muslim.
So Islam has basically been my whole upbringing, even though I wasn’t born into a Muslim family.
I was 15 when I started wearing hijab. I didn’t question it much then it was simply explained as something I should do as a Muslim girl, and I accepted it.
I’m 30 now, and I’ve worn it for half my life, but I’m still not sure how I actually feel about it.
At university I secretly stopped wearing it during the week and put it back on whenever I went home. It wasn’t that I suddenly hated Islam. I think I just wanted to know what it felt like when nobody expected me to wear it.
I’ve also taken it off while travelling, and there’s something strangely liberating about going outside without thinking about covering my hair. I dress modestly anyway, so it isn’t really about wanting to dress differently. It’s more about knowing that I made the decision.
But then I wonder whether I’d actually choose hijab if nobody had ever expected it of me.
Sometimes I think I would. Other times I wonder if I’m simply so used to it that I can’t tell anymore.
I suppose that’s what makes my situation strange. I’m a European woman who wasn’t born Muslim, but Muslim identity and hijab have nevertheless been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I’m curious how people here would see someone with a background like mine.

¡Mi primera vez usando hiyab!

I have been a revert for 4 years, but I always had a lot of trouble and excuses to start wearing hijab. Some time ago I posted about it on some subs and people were very helpful mashallah. This is the first time of many I wear it outside inshallah 🤍
I’m open to suggestions to improve ☺️
