To say it was disappointing that the sultry, shipwrecked movie star Ginger Grant from the 60’s sitcom ‘Gilligan’s Island’ never ended up in an on-screen quicksand scene would be a Hollywood-sized understatement. The curvy, red haired rocket with her sensual lips and hypnotizing hips (and her Kansas country cutie friend Mary Ann) somehow evaded the deserted tropical island’s numerous quicksand traps for three seasons (1964-67; 98 episodes) plus a trio of reunion movies (1978, 1979, 1981).

Several male cast members did in fact stumble their way into the sandy quagmires of Gilligan’s Island. However Mary Ann (played by Dawn Wells) and Ginger (played by Tina Louise) remained safe and sound on solid ground, besides one unsatisfying, near-miss episode that featured both girls enjoying a homemade, neck-deep mud spa.

Like Ginger herself, the concept of her in a televised sinking scene was just a tease; a flirtation with fantasy designed to reel us in with soft sanctuary and irresistible allure… only to leave us thirsty and begging for more.

Anyone with a sinking fetish who is familiar with the classic 60’s sitcom ‘Gilligan’s Island’ would be committing the most outrageous of lies if they claimed to have never fantasized about the lovely Mary Ann Summers being caught in quicksand.

If a scene existed featuring either, or both Kansas cutie pie Mary Ann (played by Dawn Wells) and her voluptuous castaway counterpart Ginger (played by Tina Louise) becoming trapped and sinking in a deceptive pool of bottomless tropical quicksand, it would have been at the pinnacle of pop culture peril scenes.

Alas, the concept was never in the cards. Gilligan’s Island now represents arguably the greatest missed opportunity for a gratuitous sinking scene in television history.

Having two beautiful, scantily clad, shipwrecked girls prancing around on a deserted island that was undoubtedly teeming with quicksand and not becoming victims in it seemed almost spitefully cruel and torturous to some fans of the show… including but not limited to certain niche fetish freaks.

While the scenario seemed to be destined to only exist in day dreams (or surely wet ones) we can probably have hope that a like-minded content creator with a sticky AI mandate will someday soon generate the Gilligan’s Island quicksand scene we all deserve.

Shana M. (Scarlett) O’Hara has been jumping out of G.I. Joe cartoons and comic books into daydreams for decades. What’s not to love about her? She’s the archetypal fictional heroine: gorgeous red haired Georgian peach; smart; sexy; skilled; sniper with a crossbow; tantalizing tactical tights; girlfriend to the world’s coolest ninja.

I often fantasized about being said ninja SNAKE EYES, swooping down at the last possible second to rescue Scarlett from Cobra adversaries and hungry quicksand pits, just like the one featured here. Admittedly, I may have at one time or another also fantasized about being the ginger Joe herself, battling to escape those very same goons and goo-filled traps.

What can I say? I had a lot of imagination… and action figures.

This is my favorite incarnation of Mary Marvel and perhaps the best heroine-turned-heel supervillain costume design EVER; dark and dangerous; simple and sleek lines; angry bitch boots; sans la cape; tight dress with a short and flirty flared hem that shows lots of leg and attitude. It’s a look that would be worth her severe punishment for your inappropriate gawking.

Out of the multiverse and into the mire; Gwen Stacy couldn’t have her web shooters malfunction at a worse time. Perhaps one of her web crawling home slices will swing by in the nick of time to save poor Spider-Gwen from her concrete coffin…

Don’t get me wrong, I don't think there’s anything wrong with Gwen’s full length spandex bodysuit, but I always thought those long, limber legs would be better suited in sheer, stretchy black nylon… I’m sure I could find a good practical reason If I put my mind to it.
