No, GO1 suffered from heatstroke at the EWC venue, an ambulance has already been called.

I hope he will be fine by tomorrow, hope he will still attend the game and perform well.

The coming future of the Fighting Game genre

The state of major/upcoming IPs and companies:

  • Avatar: beta showing great promise(I couldn't play, unfortunately) $30 price tag
  • Tokon/Sony: Great roster picks, small roster size. Devs want 10 years of support. Region locked barrig over 130 countries from playing. Sony abandoning physical media.
  • ArcSys: BBCF and Granblue dlc characters in the works. GGST getting a 2nd guest character in season 5
  • SF6/Capcom: Not changing nor bringing classic characters for another year. 70% of players are 15-25, devs want 10 years of support. No new fg announced at Evo. TIFA DLC. Expected to break 100k concurrent players on steam once she drops
  • Tekken 8: Lost most major members of dev team, Nick Jr cartoon and YUJIRO in development. NO TIFA DLC. Murray's vision fully realized.
  • SNK: Gained Harada as headliner developer, KENSHIRO COTW DLC and 3 more seasons datamined with monthly DLC (18 months=18 characters confirmed, possibly more to come), huge KoF15 balance patch, adding new characters and rollback to 30 year old games.
  • 2XKO: Finally gaining momentum due to a slowly expanding roster and a currently one of a kind, completely insane Evo set
  • French Bread: Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina announced for 2027. Uni DLC and huge balance patch incoming
  • Virtua Fighter: VF Crossroads looking extremely fresh and cool, will likely help bury Tekken along with Harada's coming projects.
  • DOA: Promising reveal for DOA7, followed by dog shit re-release of DOA6.
  • Tournaments: Evo everywhere and all the time.
  • Rumors/Leaks: CvS3 and MvC5 both rumored coming from Capcom. I personally think these are unlikely

The only thing that I think is safe to assume is there will likely be very few new fighting games coming before 2030 that haven't already been announced. The only companies that have any huge incentive to do so, SNK and ArcSys, both have 2 major titles they are supporting, and are clearly interested in updating/modernizing their old IPs.

Old or new, this is probably a very good moment to find/decide a game or two to get cozy with.

Quite the era we are in.

Happy 4th

KENSHIRO

This character is fucking nuts.

VERY STRONG, but I can't call him OP with the normals he has.

9/9 Guest character, one of the best ever.

The next big wave of FGs seem to be the last for awhile

SF6 sets the industry standard for the genre, in many ways than one. Between this year and the release of DOA7, the games we have now/coming will be the games people are playing for the long haul.

SNK and Capcom might have something else up their sleeve, but with the cost of development and decade long life cycles for fighting games, I don't see any other big games coming.

Tbh, I don't hate this. It's way easier to just pick something you like knowing the boat won't be rocked like crazy, and enjoy the mastery process.

Accel and Flux Ratio change proposal (Looking for feedback)

These buffs have to be strong such that they introduce new styles of play that are at least as strong as Final SPG. The worst that happens is nothing changes. Let me know if there are any big oversights.

Accel Ratio:

  • While in SPG, the user receives 120% (former 60%) of damage dealt as power gauge and 90% of damage taken as power (former 60%). Rev blow remains the same (120%).
  • While in SPG, supers deal burn out damage on hit only. Level 1: 18%  Level 2: 35%

Rational: Accel ration should be just that: Fast and able to snowball. I also think this would appeal to players that prefer focusing on lights into super cancel style gameplay, but also the use of Zero Frames becomes more effective in this ratio.

Flux Ratio:

  • The length of the SPG gauge is increased by 20%
  • Restores 20 health per JD while in SPG (2% Health), regardless of attack damage (former 0.5% or 5 health)
  • While in SPG, using Feints of 29 frames or faster decrease rev gauge by 2% each input. Feints of 30 frames or slower decrease rev gauge by 4% each input

Rational: These changes to Flux ration would really push strong defensive and feint heavy playstyles, favoring players with strong fundamentals and understanding of the game mechanics. Feints decreasing rev gauge is also a homage to SF3:3S normals increasing meter.

Unless there are major changes coming in Season 3 to SPG, I would like to refine these concepts and present them at some point in the future. All of the values can be tweaked, it's the general direction that is most important.

Big 40% Discount on Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Ft. Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star

Why tf isn't 3S:OE available on modern consoles without PS Premium

Just re-release that shit.

We know the #s, 70% of SF6 is aged 15-25, most of them will either not give a fuck or play both.

OE was the first SF many people in my demographic got to grind online without 3rd party emulation. Unacceptable.

Since the release of GGST, what games have you maintained, and what games have you played heavily, but dropped?

EDIT: Since 2020. Just used GGST as a landmark because of COVID. And Maintaind as in "Still playing"

Maintained:

  • COTW: Kamigue
  • SF6: Battle system has things I don't like, but Akuma is sick af.
  • MVC1: I'll stop when I die

Dropped:

Tekken 8: Kusogue

DBFZ: Sick video game until the EX loop patch

GGST: Sol's redesign is dog shit. Yeah, I said it.

What is your ideal combo length in 1v1 games

Mine is 5 seconds ± 2

Anything more than that, without a super, is wasting precious time and puts a damper on momentum

For SF6 mains, are the minimal changes moving forward a good or a bad thing?

In games that I enjoy, I prefer minimal changes, unless something is game breaking.

4 more character IDs were added in today's update

Character IDs PL050, PL051, PL052, and PL053 have been added to the game.

The character order has also changed a bit since the last update:

  • Rick
  • Duck
  • ??? (PL048)
  • ??? (PL039)
  • ??? (PL040)
  • ??? (PL049)
  • ??? (PL041)
  • Gao
  • ??? (PL052)
  • ??? (PL051)
  • ??? (PL050)
  • ??? (PL053)
  • Franz
  • ??? (PL042)
  • Alfred
  • ??? (PL046)
  • ??? (PL043)
  • ??? (PL045)
  • Ryo
  • Kasumi
  • ??? (PL038)

It's also worth noting that the data for PL039 and PL040 are contained in a shared update folder, suggesting that the two characters will release simultaneously. (Chonshu and Chonrei, perhaps?)

COTW Shaders have been shadow buffed??? and current DLC trailers when launching the game

They are definitely putting in some work. Also Mr. Karate is sick as hell

Not sure if I am tripping about the shaders, but the game definitely looks better. Closer to those alternate colors in SF4.
