[F4A] the Beauty and her Beast - seeking long term, literate romance
Hi all, thanks for taking a look at my ad!
Lately I've really, really been in the mood for a beauty and the beast style story. Werewolf, dragon, minotaur, alien, monster, cryptids, more? I'm truly not picky on the creature, but just not a man, at least not the vast vast majority of the time. Even the creepies and the crawlies are welcome. You could be a shapeshifter, but if you're in human form, please only stay that way for a bit! The contrast of the delicate damsel with her ferocious monster is very much part of the appeal for me, I'm afraid. I am also slightly interested in a story where I play the monster and you a man, though you would be a hunter of some sort in that scenario. In that instance, the eventual swapping of power from myself to you is also the appeal.
My favorite trope is enemies-to-lovers, where our characters are not friends initially but develop mutual respect and appreciation along the way. Your monster doesn't have to be pretty, and I hope he isn't nice. Not right away, at least. That said, I do want a romance story, not just smut.
- I write in third person past tense, and I prefer if you do, too.
- Please be literate. My posts are generally 4+ paragraphs long, depending on how much detail you give me. I mirror, so don't panic out if my early posts are massive, they will get shorter as I get a feel for your style. I do not write one-liners, and I honestly prefer long and detailed posts.
- Don't use AI for your writing. I'm seriously uninterested, zero tolerance.
Prompts:
- Woman sent to dragon as traditional snackrifice, dragon isn't what the stories make him out to be.
>Mirella, daughter of the village shaman, has been *chosen,* selected for the greatest honor of ascending the crumbling mountain path that leads to the lair of the sothlands' mighty Dragonlord. There, she will offer herself in ceremony to secure protection and prosperity for her village at the risk of her own life. One woman every ten years is granted this sacred duty, and all before have returned at sunset, declaring that the dragon emerged from his lair, assessed his gifts, then retreated for another ten years time. Despite her fears, Mirella is confident that this time will be no different - after all, what could a dragon want with the likes of her?
> This time, though, the dragon claims his prize.
- Dragon slayer, meet dragon. Neither is what the other expected.
>Isabelle, an exiled and disgraced Black Claw Mercenary, has found herself in her most precarious position yet - lost in the dilapidated lair of a supposed drake hoard. She is here in pursuit of a myth, a monster most foul and with a considerable bounty upon it's head - or, barring that, she will settle for some lost gold. The long-looted and crumbling castle is labyrinthine in design, though, and each uncertain turn takes her deeper into the mountain the lair is carved into - and, closer to the dread beast lying in wait upon his gleaming pile of treasures.
- Every dragon has a rider except this one, and she's determined to fix that.
>It is only by fortune of the yearly lottery that Emalynn was chosen to attend the elite Ascension School of Prepatory Dragon Riders - the most renowned prep school for those who wish to one day join the Royal Drakkis Aerial Forces. It is an extremely limited enrollment school, with most attendees being generational descendents of prior and current dragon riders. It is the highest honor to be a Rider, and nearly impossible to achieve without having some sort of nepotistic connection. Only the lottery, an annual allowance of five random and vetted volunteers, waives these stringent requirements.
>As an outsider who has broken her way in, though, Ema has found herself struggling to find her place. She has no friends outside of her professors, and often unfairly finds herself stuck on mucking duty for the undesirables - the dragons who cannot, will not, be ridden.
- A woman is trapped within a magical prison called the Labyrinth, full of monsters and men alike. She must make her way to the center, or risk becoming a monster herself.
> Cierra only found about her father's immense, overwhelming debts at his funeral, when the door to the church was beaten down and she found herself dragged into streets mid-mourning. Shackled and dropped aboard a prisoner ship with no trial and no way to plead her case, she only learned her fate when she saw the infamous isle in the distance - the Labyrinth. A prison meant for only the worst of the worst - so why, then, was a debtor in route?
>The renowned prison is known only as a hell where the damned do not return from. Locals from the distant mainlands whisper of screams and bellows from creatures that cannot be of this world. As she is pushed from the ship and into a tumultuous sea, forced to swim to the Isle of Beasts, Cierra is told only one thing: make it to the center of the Labyrinth, and you may yet see your freedom returned.
- A settler has become lost from the rest of her party, and now something much worse than an enemy is hunting her.
>Daaria knew that the journey traveling through the strange lands far to the east to meet her arranged affianced would be dangerous and difficult, but she was not prepared for the creature that began to hound her entourage from the minute they left the city's protective walls. The eerie howls and screeches of unseen animals hounded their steps, leaving unease and distrust in the hearts of every man and creature on the trek, until shifting eyes narrowed suspiciously at every sound and shadow. When a vicious attack in the night leaves the group scattered, Ria finds herself unexpectedly alone and exposed to the elements - and the beast who has been hunting her.
- A shepherdess has been following a creature that's been slaughtering local livestock, until one day, she realizes it's now following *her*.
>Sera has been on the hunt for the creature who has been whittling away her herd for days now, the ewes vanishing in the night with no warning, their carcasses never found to determine who was at fault. Bear? Wolf? Man? Something else entirely? An uneasy feeling fills her when she is out with her flock, the eerie certainty that she is being watched, but no creature ever reveals itself to her. She finds the tracks and remnants of something inhuman, but she can't determine what, not yet. In an effort to find out first hand, she starts spending her evenings with the herd - unbeknownst to her, though, the hunter has a new target in mind.
- A woman stowed away on a ship is tossed overboard, only to be unexpectedly rescued.
>Ana has found herself in a most preposterous predicament: floating helplessly in a barrel in the midst of a frothing, raging sea after the ship she stowed away on inadvertantly tossed the barrel she had been hiding in overboard - and her along with. Her untimely demise seems all but assured when, suddenly, she feels herself being jostled by something *other* than the sea. Faced with the reality that someone, some*thing* else has located her, the possibility of merely drowning suddenly doesn't seem nearly so bad.
- A biologist attempting to identify fauna in an unexplored land finds herself desperately in over her head when she attracts the attention of a curious local.
>Antonia has always had a fascination for animals and the unknown, so when an opportunity arises for her to join an expedition as a scribe, she simply cannot bring herself to say no despite the inherent risks that come with such a journey. Soon the spirited scholar settles into a simple and enjoyable routine - during the day she explores the beautiful jungle biome that she has made her home, and in the evening she depicts her findings in a journal, one that she will someday publish alongside the findings of her academic companions. On one such outing, however, Toni unexpectedly finds *herself* as the subject of some unwanted, highly curious attention.
And for a few where I would play the "monster" and you the human:
- A shapeshifter finds herself up for auction.
>Ali'ani is the daughter of a Shi'tani chieftain and in line to become the Voice of her tribe, but a hunting mission gone wrong leaves her taken captive and headed southward toward the desert empire of Albarra, known far and wide for the willingness to sell any and everything - including unwilling prisoners of war. Her peoples' unique ability to change their shape makes her incredibly valuable to the right buyer, but only if she's willing to cooperate, and the hot-blooded shapeshifter is anything but cooperative.
- A dragoness wakes from her slumber to discover her lair is has an intruder.
>Serisa slept, as the dragoness often did when she found the state of the world boring or unpalatable, but she woke to the presence of an intruder creeping through her home. The green serpent's surprise by the audacity of this intruder is only eclipsed by her intrigue. Normally she would just eat such a rude guest, but this time she decides to confront them.
And finally, I'm also willing to dabble in some monster x monster stories, but I've never attempted before, so I might be a little rough starting off.
Have another idea? Please, please let me know. I love hearing others' plots and building off of them, not just my own! Just have a monster, no plot? No worries, we can develop something together! Plots could include a chance attack, kidnapping, princesses locked away in towers, a monster hunting down a girl for one reason or another, etc. etc.
Hope to hear from you soon!
