Soreness after gauging my PA

I gauged my ‘new as of September 2025’ 12g PA to 8g about a week ago, 7/2026, so about 9 months. It’s still irritating and putting out a little of the gooey white lymphocyte snot. The hoop sticks and pinches at the piercing site. It’s also me fine after soaking or spraying with salt water. So my questions are, 1 how long will it typically be sore, what can I do to lube the site besides salt water?
