My first DHV was a UniDyn. The learning curve was steep and, honestly, I never got there with a torch. Bought a wand and that helped with consistency, but I was never wowed. I even bought a Simrell intercooler and stinger mouthpiece for it. Those helped, but once I bought a Simrell Ti I haven’t used the Uni since. I now have the Ti, and Hydro, and a TM2. Needless to say, the dynavap just sits in my kit and never comes out of the tube I store it in. I think I have the stick vape covered with the Simrell, and currently they all take a back seat to the Hydro (both wet and dry). That little thing just works for me.

So, what should I do with it? Since it’s one piece, I don’t think I can do much with it. Thinking I should just gift it to someone, but I wonder if there’s something I not thinking of.

Anyone else tired of what feels like manufactured scarcity in this hobby (don't know what else to call it)? I have three things that I would like to purchase. All three are out of stock and have been for some time, but promise to replenish soon. So, I have three tabs open on my phone that I just refresh everyday, sometimes multiple times a day, so I won't miss whatever measly stock may get replenished. Or may not. Seems like this happens a lot in this space, and almost never in my other hobbies.

I know it's the nature of a relatively small community, small one-off builders, and the fact that I'm chasing a couple of things that are pretty popular, but this has been a theme since I started DHV.

Just a rant. Nothing anyone can do about it and again, I understand the drivers. I'll hang on and support small businesses/makers.

Anyone using a Sploofy or similar device with your DHV? How effective is it? I have lots of space outside for sessions, but I’m trying to plan for -10* in the winter.

How much of the good stuff does the water filter out when using a water piece? I avoided any sort of water piece for a long time, but had to have a Simrell Hydro, so I got a Sneaky Pete percolator to go with it. Absolutely LOVE the cooling effect (though I don’t really need it), but the high seems a little milder.

Does the water filter out any of the good stuff? If so, how much?

New user here, and very curious about combining gummies and dhv (TM2, Simrell Ti, Simrell Hydro). Pretty low tolerance, but I like two bowls or 10-15mg of gummies. How should I start combining them if I want to get higher. Like the kind of high where your thoughts feel like TV or radio shows. 😁

FWIW, I have kind of sorted out how cross fading works for me, and I really like it.

Do different hits of the same bowl do different things for your high?

Let’s say I load a bowl into my TM2. I usually get 4-6 solid hits off of it before it’s starting to get too roasty. Two hits is a nice, light brown.

My question is, how much am I getting out of hits 3-6? They are still producing nice clouds and can certainly get me coughing. But how much higher am I getting? Are there different compounds in the hits? What am I missing if I just do two hits and load a fresh bowl? Or is it the later hits that are doing the work?

I’ve had a Titanium for a while now, and love it. It’s amazing. I’ve never used a water piece / dry pipe of any kind, and the Hydro really got me curious. I just received my brand new Hydro in the mail, and to say I’m stoked would be an understatement!

The build quality is excellent. It almost feels better than the Titanium, if that’s possible. I can’t use it yet (waiting on my water pipe!) but I can play with it. I found something interesting.

All of the parts seem to be interchangeable between the Titanium and the Hydro with one exception. The water piece adapter from the Hydro easily screws onto the extraction chamber (bowl) that came with the Titanium, but the bowl from the Hydro will not screw onto the Titanium stem. I’ve never had a problem screwing the Titanium bowl onto the Titanium stem. Doesn’t matter a whole lot, but just something I’m curious about.

That said, is there any reason I can’t use the heat excahnger (cap) from the Hydro with the Titanium? My Titanium has never seen a torch, and I plan to use the Hydro exclusively with a torch. I wouldn’t mind to use a torch with my Titanium, but would like to keep the cap un-blemished (type A much?).

How are you all storing / transporting your Simrell? I have a Helmet Head storage bag that holds all of my stuff. I have a Dynavap that fits nicely in an aluminum tube I found on Amazon that I like a lot. Unfortunately, it's too short for the Simrell. For now I store it in a plastic tube that works but will wear out eventually. I would love it if Austyn made something like the Tempest 2 Case.
