Gushing over magical girls is ecchi, because it’s a parody of the fact magical girls are usually seen as pure and innocent. Other Magical girl shows are also usually targeted to kids and teenage girls. It’s Yuri cause there’s always romantic Yuri tension between the female cast in other magical girl shows, but the writers are always like, they’re not gay, this character likes this male background character that’s barely in the show or they’re cousins. Heck to drive in it’s Yuri the manga has no male characters. Finally the mc are the bad guys cause in magical girl stories no matter how interesting the bad guys are they’re rarely explored. Then it’s a comedy with serious moments which is the opposite of magical girl shows which are serious with comedic moments. Truly a perfect parody of the genre.
