Recently, this kind of thing has happened a lot, where a buyer seems super confident in wanting a unique, custom product, whether it be tasks or videos. Then, after a few days into the arrangement, or while I’m still recording the intricate pieces for the video, they block and ghost!

It’s happened before, and I’d usually assume they were in a relationship and didn’t want to get caught. I’d usually wait about a week, and if they don’t get back to me, I’d forget it and stop recording the custom.

However, this time, the buyer mentioned being scammed for the exact custom he requested from me. I reassured him by sending clips of what would be added to the custom (which he requested I do), and he said he was happy with the clips I’d been adding. It was an extreme request, and we both expected the finished product to be ready about two weeks from the purchase. He blocked me only three days in. He spent a lot of money on it, and it’s been four days since he blocked me. I told him I’d refund him if I wasn’t capable of doing the custom, because the request was very difficult, and he never actually requested a refund from me.

Does this happen to you guys a lot? It’s happened a few times recently, and it makes me feel like I’m ripping people off. I’d usually refund the request if I felt this bad about it, but only if I hadn’t already put days’ worth of effort into the custom. How do you guys usually respond to a situation like this? Do you just delete the custom content and move on, or do you find a way to contact the buyer and refund them? Any other suggestions for how to prevent/ or respond to this?
