Advice for early stages

Hey y’all,

I’m now 5 years out of a very messy divorce and wanted to share advice that was given to me.

  1. Get a lawyer. Even if you nice with your ex you need to have someone on your side. Who is not in an extreme emotional state.

  2. Stop drinking and work out twice as much. This will help your mind clarify and you’ll be able to process this incredibly difficult time.

  3. Give yourself grace. This is hard beyond anything you can imagine. It’s ok if you break down. Allow yourself to be in the moment of grief and recover. This will allow you to heal a lot faster.

  4. Dating during divorce. Don’t get into a relationship. Dates and one night stands are fun but you need to heal before going into a serious relationship.

I followed these things and it allowed me to recover and not hate my ex. I’m such a happier person now. It’s insane to me how much happier i got. You will all move on and life is good.
