If you’ve ever wondered what’s out there between the backcountry signs, there’s a whole lot of beautiful nothing. Although the mapped distance between Lot 5 in Apollo and Lot 12 in Playalinda is approximately 13 miles, it feels like much more because you have to zig zag your way up and down the surf trying to find hard packed sand.

Of course I was naked almost the entire time. What a beautiful stretch of nature. Let’s take care of it, enjoy it responsibly, and pick up a little trash every now and then. Ask me anything! I am happy to share the secrets of what lies between the signs!

Be careful on the drive down where the speed limit drops from 45 to 35 around JB’s. The VC cop hangs out just past that on one of the side streets. I didn’t get pulled over, but I’ve seen him the last 2 times I’ve gone early to catch the sunrise.

Cloudy but beautiful sunrise today! Just enough breeze to keep the bugs away, and low tide perfect for a morning walk or bike ride.
