It happened during the night. A nice, peaceful town that had rarely known trouble found itself unknowingly invaded by an alien threat. The meteor crashing down into a farmer's field was the most exciting event in decades, though all that was left was a crater and a broken husk. How was anybody meant to know that the meteor was, in fact, an egg?
The parasitic slugs dwelling within had quickly slithered away, burrowing underground and embedding themselves in the old mine shafts and sewers that stretched beneath much of the town.
