Look I get it... There are a lot of low effort adult visual novels out there; Or ones that just don't click right because they are too static, too wordy, or simply have too little art to really serve the "visual" part of Visual novel. I rarely buy traditional VNs myself for this reason... but I had played some great ones and I knew the potential of the genre, so over the past 3 years I set out to build a game I wanted to play!

Legacy of subjugation has:

A dynamic presentation with frequent camera changes, great eclectic music and a lively use of sound.

A high degree of interactivity for a VN: Legacy of Subjugation has a lot of meaningful (and some less so) dialogue choices. In that respect it's somewhat more like a CRPG than a Japanese style AVN. Your choices affect things in big and small ways from branching endings to simply altering available dialogue.

A well thought out world and story with deep interesting characters.

Thought put into the presentation and frequency of the text: You are never overwhelmed by massive paragraphs of reading that might break up the flow of the story.

An extreme focus on Roleplaying: Though not on the same scale (Or level of talent) it can be compared to games like Seeds of chaos and Ravager.

A grounded understanding of power exchange and other BDSM concepts that is frankly lacking in most eroges.

A Dark but not overly oppressive tale: Things are broken up with moments of levity where possible.

Tons of endings: 14 to be exact but even within those there is variation... even choices at times.

Cynical and satirical: (Edited for clarity) In addition to being a story of one woman's struggle for survival Legacy of subjugation approaches hot button issues such as class, religion, and political corruption.

It's done: There's no crowd funding or chapters or early access to worry about. Just a finished and complete game.

NO GENERATIVE AI... None... not now not ever... All the art was created by me using Poser, Photoshop 7.0 (2002) and Fotosketcher. All of the music and sound effects where ethically sourced from fleshlings (Licensed or CC0.)

DESCRIPTION:

Legacy of Subjugation is a dark erotic visual novel with high replayability, and a strong emphasis on roleplaying. It is Influenced and inspired by traditional gritty western CRPGs as much as Japanese style VNs and eroge.

Step into the role of Sofie, a university student who suddenly returns home for a 21st birthday party which her aunt had unexpectedly sprung on her. She is told that she will finally learn a secret she's been wanting to know for years, but in the end, will finding out be worth what it costs her?

HIGHLIGHTS:

NO EARLY ACCESS, NO PATREON, NO EPISODES, NO CONTENT PATCH... JUST A FINISHED GAME:

It can be frustrating how many adult indie games on Steam seem to be in a permanent state of fund raising and early access. Some of those games are among my favorites even. Let me be clear there is nothing wrong with that, but I wanted to go a different way and was in a position to do so. I've worked tirelessly on Legacy of Subjugation for the last 3 years. it is a complete game and will be in a polished state at launch. 

ROLEPLAYING FIRST:

I'd prefer if people look at LoS as an experience to be had not a game to try to win. Along the way Sofie will meet an exciting, eclectic, and diverse cast of characters. Even the worst villains have an inner life and their own motivations. It's up to you to decide who Sofie is and who (or what) she will become.

DYNAMIC PRESENTATION:

Legacy of Subjugation features a lot of interesting and cinematic lighting and camera angles. including some POV scenes. It has a lot more camera movement and changing of perspective than is typical in a visual novel. Limited animation and sound effects bring the sex scenes to life. The game features a varied and lavish musical soundtrack featuring classical works of chopin, and a wide variety of awesome tracks by Holizna.

A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF SEX... BUT NOT A NUKIGE:

Legacy of Subjugation may well set a record for the most nudity in any Steam game. It has a truly stupid amount of sex and BDSM scenes... even so the primary purpose of this game is not gooning. While scenes can be quite erotic (and at times quite disturbing) The raison d'être for this game is the exploration of survival in an unfair world of dehumanizing depravity... a world where the ultra wealthy prey on the rest of us.
