Especially the shitty place in Boston, she worked at before being fired cause she gave a customer...gasp....a normal sized plate of bronze die cut spaghetti, meatballs with high quality ground beef, veal and lamb and high quality tomato sauce with freshly grated aged parmesan. She thought the portion was too small for the price. BTW the customer loved it. But those asshole former bosses of hers still fired her.
Mal had loved cooking most of her life. So many people in her life talk about including people from her church who once said "I literally thought I was going to die after eating Mal's food cause there was so much of it. I thought could see a light".
But now look at her thanks to knowing the right person who had purchased St. Jude's property for pennies during the shitshow that was the 2008 recession she got the chance to open her own restaurant and she did. And it was a huge success. People loved it.
While the School was turned into the main business, the Chapel on the property is used by Mal as a place for her to unwind. Strangely enough often the curtains are closed or heavily tinted so nobody can see in and it's heavily soundproofed. She's sometimes seen leading customers, college students and sometimes her own employees inside and sometimes being in there for literal hours or overnight.

In my OC universe Obsidian, My OC Lilith a male to female trans woman was raised Catholic and this Nun was her teacher (Which subject, I need to figure that). Sister Olga. She had a crush on her all the time she was in her old school St. Jude's and you can see why. She's quite thicc. And her European accent adds to it. This is in Massachusetts in the 2000's btw.
Lilith left St. Jude's after 11th grade and finished HS at the public school Andromeda her wife went to and they eloped together after graduation. Lilith had a scholarship to a liberal arts college with a progressive bend.

I designed Sister Olga to be something I've never seen in many stories. People attracted to teachers who aren't like hour glass figured woman. Here Sister Olga is middled aged nun in a school system which by the mid-late 2000's Nuns had been all but phased out and she's overweight. But Lilith, she was crazy for her. Loved her. She was stern, very European but also warm and well she was presenting as a teenage boy so hormones were raging.
This idea came from I don't know wanting to have someone with an accent, a teacher. My graphics design teacher was polish. It was a public btw. Not a nun.
There were times if they got stuck somewhere or there was a hug. She'd feel a "poke" in his pants. A hard uncut one. yeah Lilith is uncircumcised. All the issues Lilith has with her parents. She's grateful they never circumcised her.
