Ever since the developers announced they are reducing the amount of fan service in the game to avoid certain issues, I’ve seen a lot of people even before this announcement asking why the devs can’t just go full NSFW using a side client, similar to what Horizon Walker and Last Origin do.

The answer is pretty simple: our development studio, GAMFSN, is under the publisher NEOWIZ. NEOWIZ is responsible for major titles like Lies of P, Skul, and DJMAX, which means any major decision the developers make is heavily influenced by their publisher.

Even if the devs decided they wanted to go full NSFW, they would need approval from NEOWIZ first. There’s a high chance that all the warnings Jun-hee Lee mentioned aren't just coming from iOS or the Google Play Store, but from NEOWIZ directly.

As you might remember, when the game was about to launch on Steam, NEOWIZ chose not to put their name under the publisher tag. This suggests there's a chance they want to avoid damaging their mainstream reputation (though this is just speculation).

The only way the devs could go full NSFW is if they disassociated themselves from their publisher. That is virtually impossible because it would mean cutting off all financial backing (look up what happens to indie studios when a publisher cuts ties).

Unlike Horizon Walker a game a lot of you keep bringing up that title is both developed and published by the exact same studio, GENTLEMANIAC. Last Origin, on the other hand, is published by a small, niche team called Valofe/Vfun, giving them much more freedom to do whatever they want.

So, when people ask, "Why can't they go full NSFW?" or "Why can't we have our own client on Erolabs?", the answer isn't that simple. The devs can't just do whatever they want because they are bound by NEOWIZ. Nothing more, nothing less.
