Bhabhi is fair, with a calm, confident walk that makes heads turn in the lift. Her husband is mostly on tour for work. She has a small baby, around 7-8 months old.

Another time I was down with fever. She sent warm khichdi and casually added, “Doodh bhi pi lijiye… strong banne ke liye.” She laughed softly when she said it.
Now we’ve fallen into a quiet rhythm. She sometimes asks me to help reach high shelves because of her height she still teases, “Aapke shoulder tak bhi nahi pahunch paati main.” Her voice drops a little when no one is around , soft Hindi lines with hidden meanings that make the air feel thicker.
Nothing has happened. Just small dependencies growing day by day. Her baby’s feeding time, my lonely evenings, her husband’s long absences… everything is slowly pulling us closer without saying anything openly.
