I need your help. Scrotum swells like a balloon when I sleep / lie down and improves when upright. (Varicocele treatment didn’t help)
Hello, for many months now I have been waking up with a swollen, enlarged scrotum, almost like a balloon.
This also happens if I lie down in bed during the afternoon, so it is not necessarily related to nighttime or sleep. When I am sitting, the swelling usually goes down and it sometimes improves while I am standing as well.
When I am lying down it is obviously extremely rare for it to subside.
It feels as though, depending on my position, my scrotum fills with fluid or somehow becomes enlarged, and I do not understand why.
In my view, this may be the main cause of a series of erectile and sexual problems that I have unfortunately been experiencing for months. I believe that my weak morning erections, which have also persisted for months, may be disrupted by this scrotal swelling. I also wonder whether the swelling could somehow be interfering with the testicles’ normal hormonal function during the night.
A few days ago, I underwent varicocele embolization performed by an interventional radiologist, but so far the swelling appears to be unchanged.
The andrologists I have seen have failed to take my concerns seriously. One prescribed Viagra, another prescribed hCG injections, while others told me to “get back out there, meet women, and start having sex again!” or to see a sex therapist, as though, for some of them, the problem were hormonal and, for others, purely psychological. I stopped both Viagra and Gonasi after three months because, during the final month, they were no longer producing satisfactory results, and I preferred to manage without them.
In the meantime, I have had two partners. Despite the good times, love, mutual support, and even some good sex, I have not returned to anything close to my normal sexual functioning.
The pattern of swelling has never changed, regardless of whether I was going through a good or difficult period in my life.
For some time now, I have been recording videos and taking photos of the swelling.
I am genuinely asking for your help. I am desperate to find an explanation and an effective treatment, because this situation is profoundly affecting my sex life and my overall quality of life.
I have now been living with this for almost two years. I have undergone many tests, and everything appears to be within the normal range, yet I assure you that something is not normal. The videos and photos clearly document morning swelling that I had never experienced before all this began.
My heartfelt thanks to anyone willing to take my story seriously and offer an idea, some advice, or any possible direction.
