Pharmacotherapeutic action:
Cyclobarbital has a hypnotic and sedative action. It induces a refreshing sleep, and waking up is not accompanied by side effects. It does not have an antiepileptic action.
Indications:
Insomnia; states of nervous hyperexcitabilitiy.
Contraindications:
Idiosyncrasy, severe hepatic insufficiency, renal insufficiency, precomatose states.
Directions for use:
Adults: as a hypnotic, 1/2-1 tablet, 1/2 hours before bedtime; as a sedative, 1–2 tablets shall be taken per day.
Children over 5 years old: 1/4–3/4 tablet depending on age.
Before ingestion, it is recommended to dissolve the tablets in warm sweetened water or warm tea.
