There are times when I think I can be just a little twistedly cruel to some of my characters… Take a certain fairy-tale princess, for instance. While she waits for her family to give in to the villain’s evil demands, she’s enjoying a rather hospitable stay in his dungeons… I think I may have gone a little overboard with the chains.🤔

Well… so she doesn’t get bored while waiting to be rescued by Prince Charming—and so you don’t start thinking I’m a bit of a bastard—I’ve left a couple of her captor’s minions there to keep her company, along with a little wind-up toy I made for the three of them to play with.😈😈😈

The tent was fully lit when Madame Morrigan led her assistant, Jane, onto the stage. There were no spectators this time, nor could they hear the voices of the other performers behind the curtains. The lamps had been turned on, bathing the place in a warm glow. Under those conditions, the tent seemed much larger than usual. Jane had performed there hundreds of times, but she had never experienced that strange sensation of being in such an empty place.

In front of them, illuminated by the main spotlight, stood Morrigan's latest acquisition, which she had commissioned a month and a half earlier: a massive solid-oak chest, reinforced with iron rivets and fitted with heavy lids. More than anything, it looked like a safe, and it had taken four stagehands to move it into position.

Morrigan stopped beside her new contraption and, with a calm smile, explained that it would be the centerpiece of one of her upcoming escape acts—one that Jane herself would have the honor of performing.

Sometimes the simplest solution to a problem can also be the most efficient.

I have no idea what kind of processors and graphics cards the machines in the Matrix universe would have access to in order to sustain such a detailed and accurate simulation of an entire world—one capable of being displayed simultaneously from countless angles to millions of people, with such a level of perfection that they accept it as reality. Meanwhile, when I render just one of my images, I can hear my computer’s fans ramping up to full power, and there have been times when I’ve been a little worried after touching my laptop and noticing how hot it had become.

So, if the machines’ goal is to use humans as generators / batteries, then no matter how sophisticated it may seem, I don’t think their method is the most optimal one…

The truth is, this scene was originally meant to be used for a completely different purpose, but while I was working on it, I ended up—almost unintentionally—with something that looked very similar to what was shown in the movies. For quite some time now, I've been feeling like grabbing a shovel every now and then and digging little holes to plant delicate flowers—just so I can tease them a bit with a few tickles.

Up until now, the way I'd built my templates worked perfectly for static images. But the thought of making one of my animations never even crossed my mind, because the whole template was simply enormous... Then it hit me—the solution was ridiculously obvious: If the entire garden won't fit into an animation, why not get rid of all the extra dirt and plant the little flower in a flowerpot instead? ☺️
