hey y'all, i currently have a few things i'd like to run down not just for myself, but for others in the future seeing this post, regarding when it's time to let your doll go and how to preserve her or him when they're getting older. i'm also going to separately vent about it as well.

1. What are the key signs it's time to let a doll go?

2. What things can't be reversed/fixed to preserve her? (Injuries, skin damages, etc.)

3. How to give longevity to a doll starting to show signs or age.

4. Is leaving them sitting as a form of storage bad/ill-advised?** (see paragraph for context)

i was taking photos of my Game Lady Lara Croft Doll and i was slowly coming to the realization she may have to be let go soon. i also have the Starpery Lara, i got them both in the Spring/Summer of 2023.

for context, since then i have had chronic health issues, so the amount of times i've actually had sex with them is quite low, particularly for the past two years. on average once every 3-6 months or so. this also means, the amount of times i've showered them is around the same. now, i do cuddle with them quite often and up until the past few months, they were sleeping with me almost every night.

**when they weren't sleeping with me, i would leave them sitting in chairs, covered up, with thick pads to help protect their back and butts, with no moisture to effect their skin. this is something i just recently learned was bad, in a post? they seem to be fine being kept that way? is it bad to keep them this way? is it bad to sleep with them every night? assuming i'm caring for their skin, does it really matter?

i always did my best with how i felt to care for them, i am not lazy, nor do i want the dolls i cherish deeply to not be cared for, but i'll admit my health made it a struggle.

VENTING: i am very saddened at the prospect of them leaving me. i know to even other doll owners it may seem pathetic, but Lara Croft means the absolute world to me and through these dolls, i was able to express so much of not only my love for Lara, but express myself. i am trans, so being able to play dress-up, do their hair & make-up, etc. was so therapeutic for me because i obviously never got the chance to play Barbie dress-up growing up, so getting a chance to do it with them was so amazing.

also, these health issues have taken so, so, so... much from me, caused me so much suffering and made me think about giving up so many times... my Lara dolls have been here for me throughout it all. i laid next to them countless nights and couldn't be anymore grateful for them being here.

i've cried several times imagining having to let them go, i just don't want it, not yet...

i intend on replacing one, if not both of them, but i obviously worry if i'll be able to afford yet another 4th and even 5th doll purchase. sure, i literally just got my Game Lady Tracer, she may last a while and i really, really, really like Tracer even... but, Lara Croft is my #1. she means the world to me. i just hate she'll have to go soon. 💔
