Maybe the bar was set too low on the first movie, but I had a lot of fun with this one. Don't get me wrong, it sucks, but at least it's having and being fun while it sucks. I won't talk about spoilers to not be a dick, the movie is fun, I would recommend watching it if it's cheap.

There's constant fighting during the movie, we don't get a lot of lore or story, it's fight after fight and that's good. The choreography is decent, we get a good chunk of representation of characters move sets and stages from the games. Also we get a Mortal Kombat tournament in a Mortal Kombat movie.

Some points:

Karl Urban doesn't work as Johnny Cage, I just can't see the character on him, Bald Jade is not as bad as I thought it would be (still it's not good why the fuck change the character to a much inferior design), Baraka is joke, probably the biggest L the character took on the entire story of the franchise, if you like him, you'll get mad (And I'm counting his arcade ending where he loses and dies). Kano remains my favorite character. I haven't mentioned Cole Young a single time yet, and that's a good sign. (I even forgot he was in the movie until now)

The Soundtrack is pretty good, it elevated the fights, shame the games can't copy this. Self references to the games (like characters saying finish him or fatality ) are not cringe like in the first movie, they are mostly well adapted into the "story". It's pretty gory, like MK 9 gory, MK X beyond is still above and maybe that's ok, I'm happy with that for the big screen.

The 90s movie still clears this on the quality of its actors being a lot more iconic, and inventing the cool techno theme but I recognize this as a decent attempt, way better than that piece of shit of the first movie.

How the fuck people didn't riot at the time? It managed to be far worse than the 90s one!!! At the time I got the impression from the internet that the movie was just alright and didn't bother watching it.

There's not a mortal Kombat tournament in a mortal Kombat movie. Cole Young it's the equivalent of bread and dirt as a character for how bland he is. Raiden is an asshole and a dumbass. Shang Tsung is bland AF and none of his jobbers are remotely interesting. I died inside of cringe everytime one character had to utter a line from the game to make it remotely recognizable." Flawless victory" "Fatality" suck my balls. It's edited so weird, a lot of scenes don't even connected, you can see they made a completely different movie and changed their minds on the editing room.

The only good thing on this garbage was Kano, and part of the reason was that he was giving as much of a fuck to it as the producers did to Mortal Kombat.

I got press invitation to watch the second movie tomorrow, I'll keep you updated on how much a piece of shit it will be.
