Was enjoying a nice chat with someone I met here on exxxchange and glance at my chats to see [deleted] where her account name used to be.

It's ok--I kinda knew it was going to happen, though it happened a little sooner than I expected. Her account was very new and I kept having this feeling of familiarity--didn't we talk before? And didn't you delete that account too?

I get it! There are obvious downsides to the adult side of reddit, and it makes perfect sense to me why a woman might say "fuck it" and hit the eject button. I don't feel "ghosted." I saw it coming.

Let’s try a role-play built around your character, an unlikely pornographer. This isn’t the job you expected, and this was never your world. But you’re going to go from an outsider to an insider. Maybe that just means staying behind the camera and getting it right for your clients. Maybe that means directing. Maybe it means ending up on both sides of the camera. Maybe it involves meeting some colorful characters, and maybe some of those colorful characters are involved in some other unsavory activities, besides porno? 

I don’t have a lot of plans in mind. I just like the idea of a fish-out-of-water story about a woman who gets pulled into a totally new world, thanks to her skill behind the camera. Exactly where we start isn’t important—a roommate, a friend, an acquaintance. But from that humble beginning, there’s no telling where we might go. You play the main character, and I provide the supporting cast.

I prefer if your character is lesbian or bi, but that’s negotiable. For kinks, I imagine this staying pretty “mainstream” but if there are specific niches you’d like your character to explore, we can wander off the beaten path. Also open to setting this in the past, too. Some details would change, of course, but there’s no reason this same basic story couldn’t happen in, say, the 1980’s. 

If this feels like something you might enjoy, let’s chat about it! Let me know a little about the character you’d like to play, and let me know some of your thoughts about where this story might take us. Also open to playing the opposite—with you starting out as the onscreen talent and launching yourself into a porn career, rather than assisting with the careers of others. 

Not ready to launch into this immediately. More interested in some background chatting first, just to see if we share compatible visions for the story. And sometimes, chatting about the possibilities can be as fun as the RP.

Identifying spam accounts

Please do everyone a favor and report spam accounts when you see them. Here's hoping that the spammers aren't clever enough to read this dossier and adjust their tactics! Watch for these telltale signs:

  • You send them a chat request and they immediately send back their snapchat or telegram info.
  • Look at their post. If it doesn't mention porn, but instead is a very general post about maybe looking for "connection" or a FWB.
  • Look at their post. Does it make you think, hey, I remember this post from earlier, but this user name is unfamiliar?
  • Look at their profile. Is there a link to their linktree? Telegram or snapchat details?
  • Look at their profile. Did they post to like ten different subreddits in an hour?
  • Look at their profile. Do they use a different display name? Particularly Juliet, Lali, or Sydney?
  • Look at their profile. Are they using one of these photos?
  • Look at their profile. Did they post about being a horny Asian teen but their posted photos are of a white lady?
  • Look at their profile. Did they post one F4M post and a bunch of M4F posts before that? Well, then they're not a "spam account" in the traditional sense, and they're not exactly breaking any rules exactly. Maybe send them a DM and say, "Do better, bro." Shame them into behaving better.

These are some of the main things I'm looking out for. Honestly: I don't know what to do other than be diligent, and look for these strong indicators. While there are some things we can block via the automod, I don't know of a way to prevent spammers from posting based on obvious indicators which are visible in their profile, but not in their actual posts.

If you have any other tricks you've discovered, chime in! Look out for your fellow exxxchangers and share your tips for avoiding time-wasting scammers.

And if anyone tries to use this comment thread to meet sexy singles rather than to discuss the topic at hand, please mock them for being illiterate bozos who shouldn't be allowed to go online without supervision. You may not reuse a post from your old account.

A common spam tactic is to take legitimate posts and repost them from spam accounts.

Hence, if you delete your old account, and start a new account, and say, why not just use my old post again? we can't easily tell the difference between your new account and a spam account. Or from your new account and a lazy post-copier.

So, if you come up with a post, and then delete your account, and reuse that post, you run the risk of being banned as a spam account without warning. It's just not worth it. Be creative and come up with a new post. This isn't Shakespeare. You can do it.

And needless to say, you can't use two different accounts to post here at the same time. If caught doing so by the mods, all your alts will be banned.

Reddit also has a warning system in place for mods to catch users who use alts to circumvent bans. So if your alt gets flagged by reddit for possible ban evasion, we'll ban your alt, and there's a decent chance that reddit will suspend your account entirely.

But the main thing is: don't reuse your old posts, or run the risk of being caught by our anti-spam efforts.

45 M4F: How do you like to be fed?

Just curious, if you're interested in talking about what you prefer.

I find a back and forth to be the most fun, because then it's a bit of a conversation. If you send me some things you're enjoying, I know how to do a better job of making selections for you.

A one-sided one or two at a time is ok as well, because that's a pace I can manage. I send you something. You say something about it. Repeat until. . . . until the job is done, I suppose.

Sometimes I find myself playing the part of the firehose, though. Link link link link link and it's fun but kind of exhausting. And also not really what I think I'd prefer if our roles were reversed. I think I'd prefer one or two choices at a time so I can actually take a second and appreciate them.

So what do you prefer? Not necessarily asking what you like though that is interesting. More like--how do you like to have it delivered?

It's a cool feature where you can, say, connect multiple subreddits into one feed and save it. It's great! Means when you pop up online, I can just click on the [your username] custom feed, and, well, feed.

Sometimes, the custom feed outlasts our online friendship. And I get that. People delete their accounts for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes, I kinda find it hot? There's something just sexy to me about the idea of someone deleting her account because she went too deep. Gooned too long. Masturbated away too many hours. Deleted her account and then said, well. That's the end of that.

The spam is particularly bad lately, but we're trying!

We go through spam "cycles," which I am guessing relate to specific bot farms that come and go depending on how good a job Reddit is at catching them. We're in the middle of a particularly bad cycle.

I suggest you always check the bio before sending a chat request. There are some clear patterns you'll notice when looking at the bios of scam accounts.

A few things to look out for:

  • Cloned posts. Spam accounts will just copy a legitimate post, maybe modify it, or maybe post again, perhaps changing nothing other than the age in the subject line. Be on the lookout for familiar posts from unfamiliar usernames.
  • Syd, Sydney, Juliet, Lali. Sorry if you happen to be named Sydney, Juliet, or Lali, but right now, these specific names are strong indicators that this is a spam account. If I see one of these names in someone's bio, it's on sight.
  • Reused photos. There are a handful of photos that show up in the bios of spam accounts again and again. Ask mods if you think you're looking at a spam account but aren't sure.
  • Post frequency. Very common to see scam accounts post 10+ posts to different adult subreddits within an hour or so. And then if you go back far enough in time, they'll often have some very mundane posts or comments in their early history before they switch to exclusively adult subreddits. Sometimes this is a sign of a hijacked account. Sometimes I think the bot posts just test the waters with some bland posts before going wild in the adult subs.
  • Telegram / snapchat. If you see links to chat platforms in bios, you're likely looking at a spam account. Particularly if there's some associated nonsense long the lines of, "I can't check my inbox here."
  • Account age. Spam accounts tend to be pretty young--a month or less--or several years old with long gaps in post history.

Flagging spam accounts is very helpful! Reddit typically does ban these accounts platform-wide, but lately a lot of spam posts have been getting through. When I look at the mod log, I see lots of posts flagged "removed by reddit," so despite the fact that reddit is catching a decent number, plenty more are getting through.

Just so you know the scale of this: I've banned eight clear spam accounts thus far today (July 18) and the day isn't over. July 17: 11 bans. It's very irritating! So please: use the ol' "report" button!
