what should beginners keep in mind?

first of all englisch is not my first language so please forgive me :D
a few days ago I found my first porn video with sounding. at first I was like "what the hell" but I was curious. found a few more vids and got quite turned on
I read to start rather small and therefore ordered a product (stainless steal) which is quite small at the start (3,5mm) and gets bigger towards the end (9mm)
also to clean the product before and afterwards with a disonfectant spray and use plenty of lube.
I have also read that it can burn a little when you pee after using it - how long does that usually last until you get used to it? or does it never go away?
anything else I should be careful about?
what's the easiest - and most importantly pain free - way to get used to it?
