i'd barely played T8 since the S2 patch and i was hoping to jump back in with s3, but the dooming after it came out put me off so i just went back to the VF6 waiting room. SF6 on the other hand seem to have this massive narrative of success and despite there being a lot of heads who are done with the green slime meta and that one toxic SNK bitch, there's still a huge amount of enthusiasm behind the game. the sentiment generally seems to be that SF6 is the right way to do it and T8 the wrong way to do it. you hear this from T8 players more than anything.
but then i watch shit like the recent capcom cup and evo japan finals and SF6 is random as fuck, the best players in the game repeatedly drown in pools while there seems to be a raffle for a new GOAT every month. On the other hand T8 despite being this wasteland of bad vibes keeps having legitimately good finals where the consistent best players in the game have really good sets.
after sampling T8 in the last few days, if you're playing long sets against a friend whose habits you are familiar with then t8 is way more fun and can be legit honest, but in ranked it's still a cesspool of 8 million different random +on block guessing games that lead into heat bullshit. SF6 feels the same playing ranked as against a friend, you're generally making the same guesses and reads against minor variations of the same situation. it's repetitive but you generally always know what cards you can play, compared with T8 where it feels like a poker game with UNO and tarot cards mixed in.
i've seen to be a slight upturn in sentiment towards t8 after S3 took a shit on them, maybe it'll be in good place before VF6 comes out in 2040.
