i’m currently helping a relative at home after a terminal lung diagnosis. i’m super stressed because he did not tell me he had an edible. he is currently on many sedating meds mscontin (60mg) twice a day, hydromorphone 4-8mg as needed every 3-4 hours, gabapentin 300mg twice a day, just started 10mg reglan, and a few other medications. maybe someone has experience with this.

i thought he was reacting oddly all of a sudden, and was worried about an overdose. i only caught on because i noticed the edible was in a different location. it was given over a week ago by another relative and she could not tell me what kind of edible, but believed its 750mg. thankfully, it was not a full gummy. however, he was already having no go side effects from his condition and started reglan two days ago. all of these variables make it super hard for me to monitor his symptoms. i wanted to call his palliative care doctor, but i don’t know what he took, so an unknown substance + his ongoing symptoms they might recommend ER (he will refuse). he also signed a consent form for his controlled substances and i dont know if this will violate anything. although they didnt frown upon the concept, marijuana was not officially discussed and there are a lot of grey areas in the form.

this isn’t his first experience with weed, smoker for years. however, he was never big on edibles nor has he had opioids with them before. i first noticed him nodding off, then his sentences stopped making sense, talking to himself, movements are off.falling asleep quicker than before when he was already prone to passing out. some conversations make sense while others dont. i understand thats common with edibles, but the symptoms he had before are still ongoing and potentially worsening. spitting, vomiting, gasping, coughing. even had diarrhea earlier and was told at an appointment today that he was dehydrated, but now he’s sleeping even more and drinking less than before. less than 60 oz of water in two days, the other fluids arent clear. i’m scared to give more hydromorphone and his last dose was 6 hours ago. ms contin is also in two hours.
