🔓 CD_makeup is Open Again!

Good news everyone! 💄✨

We’ve now removed the posting restrictions from r/CD_makeup.

You no longer need to be an approved user to post — the community is open again for anyone who wants to share their makeup, wigs, outfits, beauty tips and feminine presentation.

Our SFW rules and moderation protections are still firmly in place, so please give the rules a quick read before posting.

Recently I stumbled across a YouTube channel called FNewt's Crossdressing Lifestyle. As far as I can tell it's a faceless channel comprising of videos and photos sourced on the internet which do not belong to the channel owner. They are pictures taken from subreddits like this one and re-used, most likely without permission.

Personally, I find it disturbing. If you feel the same way I recommend reporting the channel, especially if your photos are in the videos - which will apply to many of you here.

A Quick Update from the Mod Team

Hey everyone,

It's been busy behind the scenes. A lot has changed over the last few months, so we wanted to let you all know where the subreddit is heading.

Why are we restricted?

For the foreseeable future, CD_MAKEUP will remain a restricted community.

This wasn't a decision we made lightly, but it has taken a huge amount of pressure off the moderation team. More importantly, it allows us to focus on building the kind of community we always wanted.

By being restricted, we can ensure the people posting here are members who genuinely want to be part of the community. That means more makeup looks, tips, tutorials, progress posts and discussions, rather than the constant stream of content that didn't fit what this subreddit was created for.

About the NSFW tag

This is understandably the topic that causes the most questions.

When I created CD_MAKEUP, the goal was simple: build a friendly community where crossdressers could share makeup tips, learn from each other and show off their skills.

For over a year it was exactly that.

Then the subreddit exploded.

We grew to over 35,000 members, more than 1500 weekly posts, and just under 1 million monthly visitors. I honestly never expected it, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who helped build this community.

As we grew, we also learned some hard lessons.

With more experience, a lot of reading, and advice from other moderators across Reddit, we've come to understand why the subreddit received the NSFW label. It wasn't one single thing—it was a combination of factors. Content posted here, the overall profile history of some contributors, links to adult websites, and content designed to funnel people to mature profiles all played a part.

Those are things we're now actively working to prevent.

Looking ahead

Our aim is to return to being a Safe For Work community.

That isn't something Reddit grants automatically—it's something we have to earn by consistently maintaining the standards expected of an SFW subreddit.

We've been advised not to submit an appeal until mid-August, giving us time to demonstrate those improvements.

Until then, we'll continue focusing on building the community we originally set out to create.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us, supported the moderation team, and continues to make this a welcoming place.

Here's to getting back to what CD_MAKEUP is all about—sharing makeup tips, tricks, tutorials, photos, and helping each other become the best versions of ourselves.
